I had a phone call today from somebody looking for the Compass Rose. The nice lady thought my number was the Compass Rose.
What a great chat we had, I explained about the rubbish breakfast we had.
Oh, And I still not have visited the pub since, and I will not. Loss of customer - LOL

Hi Chris, Don't know who to send this to so I picked you from the list!
The Compass Rose in Anchorage Park. I live on the estate and have been using the pub for the last 2 years after moving back from Jersey C.I.
I often go into the pub for a breakfast at the weekend on my way to Priddy in Somerset to go caving and meet freinds. My girlfriend and I have done this over the summer this year for over 30 weeks this year alone. I normally just get a 99p breakfast and a pint of lime and soda as I need to drive for about 2 hours to get to Priddy.
Saturday last, instead og going to Priddy, we stayed here. We woke up at about 6:30 AM and thought, mmmm breaky.... This time, and this is the first time, I thought I would get the big breaky for 2.99 Yum, Chris my girlfriend had the same.
I orderd at the bar as normal. Charlie served me. I have put up with her bad manners and arrogant attiude for long enough. She does not say anything, no please, no thank you or anything. I am always polite and curtious as this is how my Mum brought me up. She has even thrown my change on the counter, even while I am holding my hand up for it. My Step father saw this and we both complained to Paddy the landlord, He did not care a hoot !
I saw other peoples breakfasts coming out and they looked lovely, I could not wait, YUM
What was served up looked like a plate of sick. Just thrown onto the plate, no care whatsoever. The Tomoatoes were cold. The fried eggs were solid The bacon was - hard to desribe really, just left it. There was half a "large" plate of bean juice with about 20 beans in it, and that's ME being generous, I did not count them!
I ate one sausauge and a few mushrooms and said to my Chris, I can't eat this, it's rubbish, I am going to take it back.
So I took it back to the bar, explained what was wrong and asked for my money back. I returned to our table. I waited.
Eventually I went back to the bar and enquired about the refund.
I was told I had eaten over half of it so the Cheif would refund my money. So I asked to speak to Paddy the Landlord, he just walked round the corner from the back office.
It gets better!
I explained to Paddy about the problem with the breakfast and the refund - his answer......
He did not look at me, but told Charlie to give me my money back as they did not have time to argue about it. He then said don't serve him breakfast anymore.
I actually went into back into the dining room to tell the other customers about it, but I thought better of it, turned around and left.
I will never go to his pub again for a drink or any food. I would rather spend 25 petrol and 4 hours travel there and back ( I have done it ! Ask Des!) to goto Somerset to the New Inn where Des is a Brilliant Landord.
Paddy's attiude to this was to me rude. The other bar staff were fine, apart from Charlie.
For this reason I would like to UN NOMINATE the pub for an award. Whatever. This is why I have taken considerable time to write this letter to you.
Right Chris, Gripe over. Have a Brill Christmas and a Brill new year.
Best regards to you and everbody there.

PS I have posted a similar letter on the Compass Rose's website. Bet you cannot find it :)

good pub with a nice atmosphere, unfortunatelly located next to morrisons, but they do as well as they can

Under new management after about 8years in July 2007. Bit of a shambles the night I went. New manager hard at work trying to get things shipshape.Shabby tables and chairs outside, rubbish on ground and tables covered in glasses and debris not cleared away. The beer was OK but not brilliant.

Not the best pub you will ever visit but they do have some good ales on tap.
