Like many of the micro pubs which have spouted up around Thanet over the past few years, this is an excellent place to go for a pint or more of real ale.
The ales are well kept and the friendly staff are keen to offer advice and the chance to sample a drop of the beer.
As with the other micros the place attracts people wanting to enjoy a drink and good company so there are none of the lager lout types in evidence!
The 39 Steps is larger than some micros. The seating is maybe a little formally arranged but that is a small moan.
Not a lot of point listing the ales as they vary so much. Suffice to say I've never had a bad one!

I stand corrected - the Chapel is on here. But the postcode is incorrect. So it appears amongst the Margate pubs. I'll add a review.

Our proposed tour of Broadstairs micropubs started here, but was running a little behind schedule due to train problems. The Thirty-Nine Steps is fairly large for a micropub and is located just down the hill from the station. Wold Top Wold's Way, Portobello Triple Choc Stout, Charington IPA & Yates' Dark Side of the Wight were the ales. Ciders were all from Westons - Elderflower Old Rosie, Raspberry Twist, Country Perry, Family Reserve & Old Rosie. Locals seemed to find us quite amusing! We moved on from here to the Chapel (not listed on here), which was my favourite pub of the day. Sadly the amount of cider in there precluded our plans to move on to the Four Candles and the Yard of Ale. Maybe next time......!

A great micropub in the centre of Broadstairs, good beers on and a tidy little barmaid also!

My first ever visit on a Sunday afternoon while in Broadstairs for a night stop over with the wife.
4 ales served direct from the barrels with my choice being Rudgate Brew No 17 Dark Cherry Mild @ 3.7%, a very decent and tasty pint.
Busy in this ex Pet shop with only a handful of spare seats available. A very nice local couple offered us the use of their table and we engaged in conversation about the local area and real ale.
The whole place had a mixed crowd with ages ranging from early 20’s to late 60’s, a few small dogs were also in.
Lots of pump clips on the ceiling and a sign behind the bar saying since 30/11/12 they have served 1146 different ales from 558 different breweries.
Obviously another Kent micro pub but if they are half as good as this then all the remaining ones I have to visit will be excellent.

A busy micropub in the town centre a few feet back form the sea. Four real ales on, served on gravity from a temperature controlled "upright cellar". All the beers we had were in excellent condition.

We visited there on Saturday - what a find! A simple bar with seating either side, a glass fronted 'cupboard' displaying six or so real ales on gravity. It's an alehouse so no spirits. Friendly landlord, newspapers and CAMRA stuff to read, excellent pint of Gadds (and a 1/3pt for my wife) and a platter of cheese, biscuits and piccalilli. Excellent.
