this place closed down about two years ago...

'A little bit of the West End in the East End', the sign proudly proclaimed in the window. I turned around and ran for my life...

I went in for what I thought was going to be a quick a lunch it took two hours! The service was so appalingly slow, they mixed up our orders, and we were the only people in there!

I've been going off and on to this bar / restaurant for over two years now and the menu has NEVER changed! I can't believe that the can actually get away with it. However, the chef does seem a bit out of it .. he tends to mix up dishes and side orders.

Seems a bit expensive for a Hackney local.

ok, bar a bit small, not so good for singles, couples will probably love it though

With all these good comments - how does this rate a three?
Great bar - struggled through enforced closure due to Gibbons fire. Right back on track again now with a varied menu, really friendly staff and, unlike HC, you can usually find a seat!

Excellent bar which considerably raises the profile of central Hackney.
A bit compact but very clean & comfortable with friendly, helpful staff. The highlights are definately the Brun Leffe on tap and the pleasant smokeless atmosphere, although no formal smoking policy is in place.

This is a brilliant, chilled out place which is half restaurant and half bar. It attracts a professional trendy crowd. The food is great & so is the atmosphere in the bar. It was almost burnt down with the fire that destroyed Gibbons and is due to re-open Friday 26th September. It deserves your support!
