Closed now, I presume a result of it going totally chav like the elbow rooms before it

Whatever it was there is no reason to go now, truly dreadful. Only beer appearred to be about 20 bottles of Tooheys in a chiller, no wonder the place was empty!
|
Thanks for that Mendes, I remember it now.

Ok, place for seeing sport, and try their Kangooro dinner ,really good. Average beer, and the staff are just at work, thats all.

Where has Chas Summers (Saturday night DJ) gone? They've got some new bloke DJ-ing on Saturday nights .... the words awful & arrogant sums it up. Come back Chas, we miss you!!!!! Anyone know where he has moved on to????

im a regualr to that pub... what in the world are you people talking about? its a great pub, and u dont get charged to go in untill 11pm which is about 3! saddo's musics good, bouncers are alright and the staff are friendly! drinks are fairly cheap and food is good aswell! toilets are clean aswell! the decor's welcoming! what do u expect from an aussie bar! there not exactly gonna have the union jack up are they!?

OK, confess, did go there the other year. Believe this if you will, my mate got chucked out for talking to 'white ladies'. Realy. That is the kind of place this is. It realy exists and it is in London. Go there perhaps for a laugh.
|
What the hell do you expect in a Walkabout. It's a Aussey Bar!!!! I agree with the last comment ... great DJ on Saturday nights.

Don't know what night the last reviewer went but I'm a regular and I think the Saturday night DJ is brilliant. May be you didn't say please .... muppet!!!
|
The worst bar in Islington, don't be fooled by the 'queues' of people trying to get in - it's pants......horrid toilets, tatty decor, full of odd-balls and the DJ has attitude....best avoided

DJ refused to play 'Built this city on Rock'n'roll' and persisted with awful 1990's dance that no-one had ever heard of - What sort of aussie bar refuses to play filthy cheese on a Friday night.
Gutted.

Absolutely dire establishment, about as Australian as Douglas Jardine. There are so many really great places to drink around this part of N1; stay well clear of this place.
|
Always found the Aussie bar staff to be friendly and seem to get served quite efficiently.

Hell on earth.
|
Dire dire dire
|
I don't understand, if bar staff don't want to serve drinks, don't work in a bar.
Only reason to suggest going here is that you are guaranteed a seat to watch rugby
|
Nothing special at all - standard range of Walkabout Australian beers, lots of sport and lots of drunk people; alright for some I suppose but not for all
|
Pretty crap door policy of "you have to be accompanied by a lady" to get in.
And to be honest if you do get in there its nothing to write home about
|
Pretty dire pub. Passable if you're looking for some place to watch football/rugby but would recommend going to O'Neills next door or better still down to the York near Angel tube station.
|
Horrible, horrible, horrible. At least it soaks up the Aussies and keeps them out of our faces though!!

DO NOT GO TO THIS VENUE UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR BAG STOLEN. There is no security in this pub, the bouncers have not got a clue, my bag was taken by some dodgy Albanian bloke who was hanging around the back of the dancefloor on his own and without drink. They did absolutely f all to help me and if they had proper bouncers on the premises they would have spotted him a mile off. Their attitude sucked and I cannot advise people enough to stay well clear unless you want a completely sh*te night!!
|
Used to be a good night out but have to agree with Mandy too many bozzos now has ruined the place, shame.... How do they get away with managing to make a class of coke last all night?
|
I`m going to give this off-the-conveyer-belt pub an average mark of 5/10.
Now why have I bestowed this apparently over the top honour on a chain of pubs renowned for being less appealing than an elephant turd?
Is it because it has any character? Nope, its got the same stereotypical Oz yawnfest of an interior.
Does the clientele contain more than one person who doesnt look like they want to deck you with their hairy knuckles? Nope, everyone has their electronic prisoner tags neatly attached to their ankles.
Maybe its that the selection of booze is surprisingly extensive? Nope, the same lagers in the same order with the same utterly unattractive offers are all lined up as per usual.
No, the real reasons for the 5 is that unlike most Walkabouts it actually looks like a broom and some cleaning materials have been put round the place more than a couple of times in the last decade and, most shockingly for this chain, the staff were very helpful and pleasant. For the shock of these two facts alone it deserves an average grade.

i like 2 go there on saturday nights. its quite clubby. get there b4 nine pm and entry is free and the drinks are cheap. best thing about it? its loud and local.
|
The only other Walkabout I dared to venture into. I have a suspicion that aliens have landed years ago and have opened Walkabouts as a front for brain experiments. Shaun of the Dead part II.
|
Used to come here a lot as a teenager, as it was open late and free to get in. It was crap then, but now it's even worse, more expensive and they charge to get in. The idea of paying money and, quite possibly, queueing to get into this dive doesn't even bear thinking about.
|
Bouncers are obnoxious and the place sucks big time.

This place has gone down hill far, too many bosso's a girl can't go on the dance floor as she is surounded within seconds come sort this out

decent place. went on friday night and saw people drinking snkaebite so thougth we would as well!
nice clientle, friendly bar staff, quite a good range of music ranging from pure cheese to a bit of house to classic air guitar songs.
prices are more than elsewhere in london and we had to pay to get in 9i think it was 3 quid) but thats what you expect in the angel.
all in all a good experience

I love this place...especially of a Saturday night. Fun, friendly and not in the least pretentious. Has dance floor...very Australian, with various theme theme nights..they even had a 'beach party' in the summer! Very popular and open till the wee hours (around 2.00am).
