After another period of closure, the Fox reopened in May 2021 under community ownership. We watched the Coronation here with a friendly group of locals. The Windmill Hill Porter and the TT Landlord were in good condition; I didn't try the Church End What The Fox's Hat or the other handpull. The food offering has been turned down a notch since my last visit with most main dishes now around £13 or £14.

Has changed hands several times over the last few years but new lessees arrived last November and there is definitely a more upmarket feel than that of a few years ago. Perhaps they are trying to compete with the nearby Bell at Alderminster for dining customers - the prices seem to indicate so with my scallop starter at £10.95 and the braised shoulder of lamb at £18.95 (the menu is on the website so I knew what to expect). That said, the food yesterday lunchtime was terrific and the Cask Masque beer was also very good indeed even if the range was unimaginative. I tried the Black Sheep and Doom Bar at £3.70 each - didn't bother with the Exmoor Fox. Left impressed.

I haven't been yet to the newly re-opened Fox but photos on another site show that it has been refurbished in a wine-bar/gastro style and sells Wye Valley Bitter, Bombardier and Old Hooky.

Closed.

Doom Bar, Wadworth 6X and Wye Valley Bitter on sale. Beef or pork Sunday lunch is 10.95, Specials board looked interesting, especially the "ox's cheek in its own jus". Popped in after a short walk nearby and glad to see that, if anything, it has improved in the last couple of years.

Nice reasonably priced food and well kept beer. Friendly staff. Good web site.

Excellent pub with great ever changing menu that is always served to perfection, the two chefs seemed very passionate and freindly. Was pleased to see the new owner is doing an amazing job and has just won pub of the season from camra for their cask marqued real ales, which are faultless. Great pub great team, well recommend a visit

Went here after a long ramble in the attractive local countryside. Hospitable and obliging pub. Beers in good condition -- didn't eat here but the menu looked okay.

The owners and the chef have left this pub and are now at The Shakespeare Inn Welford on Avon 01789 750443

We enjoyed our visit so much we have booked for one of thier two Valentine's nights ... Cant wait.....

This pub has the freshest most interesting menu.It has a great pub menu but is complimented by a well balanced special board.
Most of the products are made on the premises by one of thier 3 chef's.Also if you want to request a dish and they have the ingredients they will make it for you.
The range of real ales is good but the quality is second to none. The Fox has just been recomended by CAMARA !
In this day and age it is great to go to an old fasioned pub but with a very forward thinking attitude. (the staff even smile and that is rare in pubs).
Well worth a visit or TWO.

A pub that if you try you will want to buy.We will be back.

This pub is loxley's little secret. It serves freshly cooked food and specialises in fresh fish from all over the world.Once a month it has a fish platter night with fresh lobsters, oysters smoked salmon and halibut ,crab , king prawns and much more,we loved it.They staff treated us like family and the real ale's were kept in perfect condition.
We have been back several times, they even remember our names.
In these times of theme and big group pubs it was so lucky we found this unspoilt but ahead of the times pub.

It's reputation has waned over the years. Nice pub though. Food isn't as good as it was but it is still jsut about worth the trip out there. Nice beer and the staff are friendly.

The Fox Inn specialises in Fish Dishes and always has a specials board which is packed full of fish from all over the world. The Fish Platter nights are well worth a visit, but you do have to book in advance. I have eaten here and although the food takes time to cook, it is worth it knowing that all dishes are fresh. The staff are always smiling and happy to serve you - well worth a visit

Reply to the American lady... If you want fast food why don't you go for a burger and chips somewhere else. Being American this will probably suit you more than the excellent quality food served at The Fox that your inexperienced palate is unable to appreciate . I have eaten here on several occasions and have always enjoyed both the food and the hospitality. The pub/restaurant has an excellent local reputation and deservedly so.

The new owners have very much kept up the good reputation that the Fox has aquired over the last few years. Good tradition food with the ocassional diverse dish, and promt service. A busy place for a village pub with a good feel to the place, recomended for plesant night out, eating or not.
