This ceased trading as a pub over 6 years ago - and was posted as such.

Why tell us again 6 years later!?

It closed after converting to a fish restaurant (yes, really). It's now a builders' and student hostel.

It's just reopened as a European restaurant and bar. The food is magnificient - the best in the area (and we've been to all in the surroundings). Shame about the housing estate in full view.

The once 'Honest Cabbage' has now changed to 'Le Papillon' at The Six Bells. More of a restaurant and bar rather than a pub serving European Cuisine and a great selection of wines! New staff as well, this pub has been transformed!

Due to reopen Thursday 14 April with a Belgian air to it - waffles, Belgian beer etc.

It recently had a lick of paint and reopened under its original name, The Six Bells. Since then it has closed again.
JDchaser - 18 Feb 2011 13:07
Now called the Six Bells again.

To add to the 'please's: please stop letting people smoke at the bar. I don't want a faceful of their fug while I'm getting a pint.

Still a bit quiet ... could be a very good pub if it knew what it wanted to be, but it doesn't seem sure whether it's a sports bar, Irish pool pub, or real ale pub. It has the location (if you ignore an unfortunate closeness to the Chavbridge Road Estate) and the architecture to be quite ok.

The pub is okay nothing over exciting. Myself, my wife and some friends passed through on our 'pub cruel'. The quiz was okay although we came second last. One big girl there from the area was very entertaining, just ask my best mate simon!

Yeuch. Old men, stale beer.

Atmosphere? The same as the carpet.... barren.

Wen't there once when France had just beaten England at the Rugby, lots of French girls singing and dancing fine by me, they were told to shut up and respect the Irish national anthem in 'our country' by a load of ditch diggers!

Visited it by mistake one Friday after work. It was packed but why, I know not. Impossible to get served, no endearing qualities whatsoever. I must have missed something.
Dr John - 17 Apr 2003 21:08
Half price drinks on an early Friday evening is unbeatable! I remember one recent Friday they had Kareoke when half price drinks had finished which was a stroke of genius and a great laugh!
Only downside is if you don't know anyone who works at Croner you'll be very lonely there!
