Made a repeat visit to this branch of Yates's on Sunday evening after reading in the local CAMRA magazine that the ale range had been improved in here. Granted, the beers are better than your average Yates's - Liverpool Craft Icon & Hop Beast & Greene King IPA. But it doesn't quite feel like a pub. It was packed with people watching the live football match between Chelsea and Liverpool. I should have known to have stayed in Dr Duncans where it was much quieter, or in the Ship & Mitre or the Vernon where the beer range was far superior.

This bar is back open. Arrived on a Sunday lunchtime to find 2 or 3 bouncers on the door - never a good sign. There were plenty of people behind the bar. So service was prompt. To my surprise, there were 3 real ales - Black Sheep Best, Shepherd Neame Spitfire & Liverpool One Liverpool Light. We plumped for the latter and it was in a good condition. The bar itself is fairly featureless and spread over two floors. The crowd were fairly young and most seemed to be there to watch the football on one of the many screens. Better than what I had expected. It is now one of the 125 pubs on the Liverpool Real Ale Pubs Map. Hence why I decided to give it a try. I may give it another try if passing. But it's not a destination pub in my opinion.

Closed for refurbishment........unfortunately due to re-open.

Went in here late last night as I had time to kill before my bus home. Two scallies were smoking skunk in the doorway this should have warned me off the place! Only around 20 customers but they were mostly loud kids. All the usual fizzy drinks you would associate with a city centre chain pub were available but I was surprised to discover Cains Bitter, Yates Ale and Bombadier. I had an ok pint of Bombardier for a very reasonable 1.85. The building is a modern, large, souless barn with a high ceiling. Wood dominates all the surfaces. Upstairs was closed apart from access to the only toilets. It's a couple of years since I went was here and I don't anticipate a return any time soon.

Avoid this place like the plague !! We were in Liverpool for the Matthew Street festival and decided to go here for some lunch. There were 17 of us in total, including a baby, 2 young children and a pensioner. The doorman was extremely abusive to us in front of my children and used the most disgusting language. With people like him on the door it's no wonder there are fights in places like this. We will NOT be returning.

went in for daughters 21st, was swore at & threatened by what turned out to be the manageress!!
avoid it like the plague on a saturday!!!

Went in here to escape a torrential downpour on my way to Lime Street station! Had a cheap pint of Strongbow. Upstairs was closed so the ground floor was quite busy. Tables hadn't been cleared - only appeared to be one person working there. No atmosphere, soulless, typical chain pub. I should have ran around the corner to Doctor Duncans to get out of the rain!

Seating outside is the only positive about this venue.
The food is what you would expect from a chain pub, churned out and cheap.
The ale is also of a dubious standard. Gets very busy of a weekend and has many drinks promotions. Once you have visited one Yatses you have been to them all.

Everything that is bad about modern day society can be observed in this place on a Saturday night!

Liked this place, sat outside on first floor balcony, good service and friendly staff. One of the best Yates I have been to for sure

I've been to 7 different Yates bars and this was definitely the best one. Sitting outside in the afternoon on my 21st birthday watching the chicks go by was brilliant. Not often you can sit outisde in the centre of a town/city and relax at a decent pub.

Without as doubt the new style Yates with attitude. Bring the captial of culture to life with its amazing multi-media system (see that dirty video - ahh christina). This place puts any other Yates to shame with good looking staff and management who actually give a shit if your having a good time. Gets proper packed on thurs-sat day and nights. Have to witness the place to belive it
