After a 3 month closure for a refit this place has reopened for the better. The toilets are actually clean!! And they now have an outside bar which will be holding a mini beer festival in the future. There are now 5 cask beers along with the old regular lagers. There are T.v's galore which is ok when the football or cricket is on but not of you want a quiet pint. I'd revisit this place again if and when they hold a beer festival.

Last pub on my visit to Droylsden although I remember it as the Astley arms when I worked at robertsons jam. 3 real ales two from skipton one from sharps. Cheap beer but strange landlord who eyed me suspiciously with his henchmen at the bar. My last review of this place was 3 years ago and to be honest I heard the landlord had improved his manners and was welcoming people back who he barred for stupid reasons and misdemeanours , ( I haven't been barred from there by the way). But I felt he still has this arrogant persona and likes to think he's something special. Won't be back as there are far friendlier pubs and most of the landlords I've spoken to say he's a twat.

Went in Saturday, first time in ages. The place is becoming a health hazard. Copper dragon, about as clear as the Ashton Canal, San Miguel, reeked of eggs and those gents, dear me. Used to be a cracking place and sorry to say this, but its become a bit of a hole to say the least

Well the self made man stayed ha ha, I know he's not to everyone's taste but credit where it's due he has started selling real ale and at a fantastic price of £2 a pint. On my last visit he had copper dragon and sharps Atlantic on, both being on very good form. Pie and chips same price as the real ale also so with talk of a wetherspoons coming to Droylsden this is a positive step to go on the offensive.

Finally the self made Mr Droylsden has left this pub for a life in Spain. Thank god. Anyway will anyone buy this pub???? No because the arrogant, obnoxious pratt who has moved to Spain wants £840,000 is he for real????

Not serving food anymore which is a shame, No real ale just caffreys on tap. The landlord can be funny sometimes and has a pet hate of people wearing hats whether it be a baseball or flat cap he wont let you in. Most real ale fans have started going in the fitzroy club nearby where they sell 2 different ones Thwaites wainwrights and a beer from Skinners.

It's a cracking night in the lazy toad at weekends. But its dead during the day this in my opinion is due to no real ales and lack of promoting them.

Good Pub with a good selection of beers at reasonable prices. Landlord runs a tight ship in a pub which otherwise could attract goons. One major problem though, the gents are like an open sewer, they stink the place out and are in dire need of investment.

Absolute quality food and all the meat is bought from a local butchers. Got the title of best pub in Manchester by the Manchester Evening News readers in 2010. Packed out at night and is easily the busiest pub in Droylsden. A good selection of beer on offer and mulled wine but was very disapointed that the real ale seems to be not on every time i visit. Crying out for a couple of decent local real ales like Hornbeam or Millstone.
