Went to the chequers in Houghton Regis 8th June and the food was awful. When it came out it was just about warm. We ordered something from the child's menu which ended up being packet food which had been microwaved. We asked for this to come out first but all the food came out at the same time, the starters , our mains and our babies food. All of which, just about warm. No one came over and asked us if all was ok and I had to ask for cutlery as the staff forgot to bring it put with the food. Not impressed at all. The manager was lap really poorly dressed, shirt hanging out on one side and Just about made the effort to serve me at the bar. Overall an awful experience

Food is o.k for the money, the beer is a bit pricey, staff seem nice. Not a bad place overall.

All real ale hand pumps are off only guinness, lagers and odd bottle speckled hen available still food was quick and value for money.

Had lunch there today - great value (a tenner for 2 good meals and 2 pints), friendly service with a smile, from both barmaid and server, and warm, clean, friendly pub. A very good experience all round.

much improved, food bit dodgy when it reopened but now reasonable enough for the cheap price you pay. interior has been improved no end by the refurb.

now a hungry horse food cheap and I found ok.on my third visit beer was cloudy changed for another ale to find that cloudy to spoke to manager given another ale which yes was cloudy! and had yeast floating around.went for a Guinness and charged the extra for it what a cheek! spent more time at the bar than eating there food.service was good thanks there young staff hope they can keep them. over all no happy will not be going back to green king owned pub more like a fast-food place that sells beer.

full of houghtoners - enough said

staff usually look depressed! otherwise probably the best pub in houghton regis, which isnt saying a great deal to be honest. fair priced lager, tasted good. menu is quite extensive and well priced but expect the usually bland stuff churned out by whichever company supplies 'the giant menu', ie microwaved meals you'd pay 99p for in most supermarkets!!!

best place to watch england world cup matches and other footballing events such as cup finals and big premiership games other than that very dull and like mix between harvest and the dog & duck

Use to be a good pub now its bland a dyer - they had a niche market were it was the only pub in the area that had sky TV available in the longe bar AND let kids in - was packed football nights.... now bar is empty.... got rid of the kids play area too.
