After a visit to the King Charles Tavern just down the street (not listed on here), I finished off at this branch of Wetherspoons. It feels like a typical branch of the chain. But it was the worst selection of real ales I've seen in any of their branches. Just their staples Sharps Doom Bar, Ruddles Best & Greene King Abbot were on. If it's a Wetherspoons you're after, head to the Hatchet Inn instead.

Unfortunately the always very good 'spoons beer prices are ruined by very rude staff members. Of special note is the barmaid Jess who seems to delight in making customers feel most unwelcome. I've generally felt very comfortable in all 'spoons establishments but alongside The Bear in Maidenhead this has to be one of the worst for customer service.

In this boozer the dolphins were monkeys that didn't like the land walked back to the water went back from the sand.
|
since they've got the little dwarf fella as bouncer things have picked up. what good he is during a ruck is anyone's guess but gives the boozer a nice hobbiton type vibe.

The kegs are very fruity and so are the clientle! Wetherspoon's first gay bar by all accounts. Backs to the wall men!

I'd like to recommend this establishment but the music weekends have turned it into a meeting spot for the giro hordes/chavs of Thatcham to defy their ASBO's and get all lary on taxpayer funded shant! Burberry wearing swines that they are!

Typical pub for this chain. Friendly service, but tha card machine was not working, when I visited, so I had to sign for my meal! I had a pint of Ramsbury brewery "Festival Ale", which went down well, on a cold day.

a lot of monkeys breakdancing in here on the music nights.

A very gay friendly pub. That is all.

Was in there this lunchtime. Two guys doing bar service and food orders. No sign of any tables having been cleaned in the last hour or so. The beer was cheap and that's all you could say in its favour. As always the TV was on but, thankfully turned down.

A Wetherspoons/LLoyds No.1 bar with all the standard fixtures and fittings - one of their newer bars (they have also just opened The Hatchet in Newbury). Sad to say they have the usual issue with the guest beers as they don't turn the pump clips round or put a sign on them to say that the beer is not actually available and this can be very frustrating!!!! What looked like a good selection of beers truned out to be 3 guest ales and 2 of them went "off" as I got there. Also, the advertising stated that there would be 6 guest ales including Ruddles and Abbot wich of course are standard "always available" house beers and not guests. Please sort this out!!
