had a 50p off voucher and the bus dropped me right outside - woulda been rud not too. OK, reasonable selection of ale and the Wychcraft Blonde I had was almost as good as it should be. looked to be some interesting characters in there.

Even by the standards of Wetherspoons, very poor indeed. Grim, aircraft hangar like and with the hint of an unpleasant smell pervading. The only + point is the beer but a pint of Wayland's Smithy came nowhere near that of the standard at the White Rabbit a couple of hundred yards away. CAMRA's continued indulgence of the xenophobic, Tesco-emulating chain continues to be a blot on the organisation's make up.

Apparently allowing the EDL to meet here this Saturday afternoon. Please let the manager know your feelings.

A largish 'Spoon, which is handily placed for a cheeky pint before catching the bus home after work. Usually something interesting on the hand pumps and usually in good nick too. Service is always friendly but you may have a bit of a wait as it can get busy after 5 P.M.
With ample seating and two outside areas, The Swan seems to be the 'Spoon that attracts the local characters more than the Four Candles and there is a fairly entertaining menagerie of regulars to spot as they go about their daily business of drinking while everyone else is at work.

It's always good when you find a bar that the wife likes - that usually means we stop for more than one pint. This is a pleasant enough Spoons with a few guest ales and quite a comfortable interior. Nicely situated by the old castle and not far from the city centre and the shops. Usual Wetherspoons offers with a mug of coffee much cheaper than other bars/coffee shops in town. Had Loddon Ferrymans Gold which is always one of my favourite local beers.

Obviously far better than the Ha!Ha! it has replaced, but not as good as The Four Candles. Five bitters. Holden's Special was well served.
