Fairly modern city centre pub in the main shopping area. The interior feels like a more modern and brighter Wetherspoons. But I'm not sure if it is part of a chain. Reminded me of the Eli Jenkins in a similar part of Swansea. We got served quite quickly, despite the bar being busy. Beers on were Vog Summer Daze, Brains SA, Rhymney Hobby Horse, Kite Summer Breeze, Felinfoel Double Dragon & Otley O3 Boss. A good selection and another good pub.

Me and my 4 friends went here on a Saturday morning for breakfast. To be honest, it is one of the worst breakfasts I have ever had. I paid £4.99 for a standard breakfast (Bacon, Sausages, Egg, Hash browns, Beans, Cherry Tomatoes and a Mushroom). The first thing that annoyed me was how long I had to wait for it. I had to sit and watch as 3 of my friends ate their bacon sandwiches, whilst me and my friend waited for our full breakfasts, and another one of my friends waited for a scrambled egg on toast. They finished them long before we even got ours.
Our breakfast’s finally arrived after waiting for maybe 20 to 30 minutes. I do not understand how it took this long, as it wasn’t as if the place was heaving with customers. Also, they were luke warm at best and not prepared very well. I have no complaints about the sausages and hash browns; and I cannot complain about the tomatoes because I don't eat them. But the bacon can only be described as straggly, the beans were all stuck together and the eggs on my plate differed from the eggs on my friend’s plate, even though we asked for the same meal. His eggs were sunny side up and mine was fried into one eggy mass on my plate. It really perplexes me how they managed that. Frankly, the meal didn't taste that good either and it was a very disappointing way to start the day. Paying nearly five pound for this meal, which you also get a hot drink for, was nowhere near worth it. The lack of toast was also a very big let-down.
When my friend’s scrambled egg on toast arrived (which was after our meals had arrived, so around the half an hour mark) the egg looked like rice and was, again, luke warm. Even though it was good quality ciabatta bread, the "toast", was hardly toasted. It was basically just scrambled egg (and I use that term loosely) on bread, and to be honest it didn’t look great. The only positives I can find in this ill-fated trip was the presentation of my friends bacon sandwiches, which looked very professionally done. But as I said, when other meals turned up it was a completely different story. Also, to be fair, the people working there seemed quite friendly, with one man who worked there (I am unsure of his name now) standing out with very cheery customer service.
Overall, I expected a lot better than what I got at this pub. It could have just been a bad day at the office, as I have only been once, but that one time has put me off for life. I would not recommend coming here for breakfast. The food was very below par and it still baffles me a few days later how it took so long to make this food and it still wasn’t very good.

Fairly large single roomed pub in the city centre. It has an average, modern sort of interior, but on the plus side, does serve beers from several Welsh breweries, including the Kite Brewery. Not bad overall.

I quite liked this pub. It is in a very handy central location in the city centre. I did also like the various seating areas the place had to offer. Pint was under £3.00

A street corner pub in the main shopping area, that capitalises on its location is a pedestrianised street with a decent amount of outside seating. Although traditional looking from the outside, its got a somewhat more contemporary interior than might be expected.
Its essentially a single room bar, but divided in to different sections with low level partitions and a couple of steps here and there. Theres wood flooring and the paintwork is mostly maroon, although there is also some heavy flock wallpaper, and one small corner feels almost like a hotel lounge with its floor to ceiling wood panelling and a large chandelier. Elsewhere recessed spots sit in the plain white ceiling, which seems an odd combination. Theres a large curved corner bar with wood panelling, and blue lighting behind. A couple of plasmas were tuned to a sports channel.
There was an extensive pub grub menu, divided in to several sections such as Sandwiches & Ciabattas, Pub Favourites, Burgers & Grills, etc. Most of the mains were priced around the 6/7 mark, but we didnt sample anything so cannot comment on the quality.
An A-board outside advertised a Great selection of cask ales but this should be perhaps qualified with the fact that they all come from the same brewery (Felinfoel). These were Best, Celtic Pride and Double Dragon. Ciders were Gwynt y Ddraig Farmhouse Scrumpy, Strongbow and Magners Golden.

A slighty 'multi-facetted' pub, let's say, the 'OG' isn't a great experience in a sweaty, Cardiff- infused student evening; on my last visit, it was very clear that its hordes of big screens and loud music means it is often not benefitting from the hordes of young drinkers who descend on it, but in the comfort and peace of a noon day, in the week, it comes into it's own as you can grab a large table and while away hours in relative peace and comfort just watching the world go by with good Brains SA or Felinfoel (sadly not on this time!) to sooth the palette. A nice place to crash if it all gets too much!! Good grub too!!
