Relaxing pub off the beaten track. Does a great Sunday roast. Very friendly.

I enjoyed the lovely garden to this pub. However the bar staff were incredibly slow, and walked past me several times pretending not to see me.
|
We were very disappointed with the service that we received at this pub. For this reason we will not return.

If anything get yourself to their legendary quiz nights on a Monday evening. Great little boozer with a charming atmosphere.

Total new lease of life.
This pub was great then it went down hill a bit, but now it's back!! Visited this Sunday evening with friends as they were the only place serving roasts til 6. Great ales on tap, had a lovely pint of Wherry. Fantasic roast all fresh and loads of it. Staff are friendly and build a fun atmosphere. Visited in Jan but went out for a cig the garden is looking great for the summer it was all lit up well. Looks like a new conservatory as well, much better than the drafty shack that I remembered. Will definately be back!

Amazing garden so many good times, good service even if it's busy.

Sadly not the pub it used to be. This place used to get a great mix of locals and students but sadly this no longer appears to be the case!! What happened to the BBQ in the summer for starters. Also the staff used to be hot but now the place is left with a landlord who seems to have had his sense of humour removed but I think this may be due to the fact he's quite young and doesn't know how to interact with everyone yet!! The beers aren't great either!

These days the friendliness of the Landlord and the ambience of the customers is much more important than some niggle about the quality of the music or the temperature at which the lager is served. James, the owner, has a phenomenal ability to remember what a casual customer (me) ordered two weeks ago, and the place still seems like the sort of establishment you hoped to find open in the back streets of Norwich after a hard day slacking in an office or factory (remember when Norwich had offices and factories.....and we had somewhere to work?). And my fussy mate reckons that the food is excellent.

Nice enough atmosphere. Lovely beer garden but the quality of the pints can be a bit hit and miss.
|
nice enough pub, the wherry was very poor
|
Great garden, good food, good beer, great friendly staff, good mixture of customers, fantastic atmosphere definately Norwich's best pub.
|
Rude staff, over priced food, poor service on food, rip off prices on the beer and packed with arrogance. Supergreatfantastic beer garden though.
|
Can't knock the range or quality of the beer, quite expensive though. The pub itself baffles me. It's always busy, why? Nothing special about it. Music is pretty shit. Garden you can't argue with hence the name but the rest of the place is just horribly 'ordinary'. Noisy students and a smattering a chavs. What that all about.
|
Odd, should be good but isn't. Theres just something unpleasent about it.
|
1. Horribly overpriced. 2. Good beers. 3. Clientele mostly have heads stuffed up own arses. 4. Nice Garden.
|
Great atmosphere, great food and the best pub garden ever, very expensive though.
|
Great pub to include on a pub crawl and nice to sit outside on a warmer summers night - a bit expensive

Never liked this place.

Despite being nestled in the student dominated residential area of the Golden Triangle, the Garden House is a delight whose excellent mix of classic dcor and a wide drinks selection (especially ale) means that it can be easily enjoyed by students and more normal members of the human race.
However, what really sets the pub apart in the summer is its brilliantly spacious and green outdoor area. I`m the sort of person who likes to move from pub to pub on a lash day, but this is one of the few places I`ve ever been where I could happily spend an entire summer day/night soaking up the rays and the booze.
Obviously during the winter and autumn periods (which lets face it make up more than a bit of this nations weather), it isnt quite as enjoyable, but the interior and everything else is good enough to deliver a very good 8/10 even when the sun is behind the clouds.

When I lived in Norwich this was my favourite pub in a city of excellent pubs.

This pub is just great - real local, situated on a corner near the Unthanke Road area. Its just perfect for the coming summers day/evenings. Enclosed garden area out the back is perfect for kids, with limited but tasty food menu & great beer- it serves well pub crawlers and toursits a-like.
