Belmont, Suttonback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Has now turned into an Ember Inn. The food is OK and it's cheap , the problem is the customers. If they could segregate the eating and drinking areas , it might help. I doubt it though. If you enjoy listening to people from the Shanklin estate swearing while you eat , then you are in luck , this is the place for you.

Went here the other day and my lasting impression was a bit like that scene in Star Wars.
Belmont Public bar: You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.
The carvery is decent during the day when the scum and villany are elsewhere.

Used to be my local, although I avoided going there for a while (can't really put my finger on why), when I did start going there I thought it was a lovely place, decent range of beers, decent food, nice atmosphere & friendly bar staff. Would recommend it.

As for 'Cappy22', it was my first time in the Belmont today. They had a children's party starting, and apologised that food could take longer than usual. However, the staff seemed pleasant enough and the menu attractive. Ales on offer were Abbot, Lonon Pride and Spitfire. The Pride that I had was in very good condition and of acceptable price at 3.10.

Our first time at the Belmont and definitely our last. The Staff were sullen and rude. We were shown to our table which was none too clean, and the waitress told us she would be back with a highchair. None materialised until we fetched one ourselves. We rarely saw our waitress throughout our meal. There were no staff attending at the carvery and we had to wait until someone arrived to serve. The whole place was none to clean and the floor was covered in leaves. The food on the whole was not too bad, but atmosphere and service was awful.

Ddin't this used to be The California?

this place has been on the decline since the last refurb... indifferent, moody staff, never any loo roll, heads too large on overpriced beers, and constant presence of seedy characters that seem to live by the bar. it's nice to have so as to not have to go to sutton town centre but that's about it. manager needs to find some concern for this place or pass it on to someone who will. oh, and the food is generally crap, too. 3 tries and you're out!
