Small village pub just off the main green and therefore a little quieter than the nearby George On The Green, with the Steam Fair on. The ale range was not too inspiring - Marstons Pedigree, Brakspear Bitter & Ringwood Boon Doggle. It seems to be primarily a foodie pub. Most were tucking into Sunday lunches. We considered it until seeing the price of £22.50 for 2 courses. Maybe that's the going rate locally. But it seemed steep. A handful of locals were congregated around the bar watching the rugby. The interior feels too modern.

I've been to this place a few times. I much preferred it to what it is now, another bloody gastro pub. However, drinkers are welcomed and the staff and customers are friendly enough. I can never quite understand why places like this make great play of their food and wine but can't look after their beer. Beer quality can be hit or miss here.

A high standard of offerings on the gastro front including a selection of magnificent roasts and superb service make this a great stop off. Sadly, the slightly unctuous eulogies on the walls to the likes of TV's Michael Parkinson, David Beckham and others do lend it an air of naffness while it's certainly more restaurant than pub. Ales were decent including Brakspear and it has a fascinating history - it was once the Eagle but the locals demanded a change during World War I.

Just when you think you've found a decent trad pub with good ale and food along comes another would be entrepreneur and buys it. This time it's one Michelin star Nick Parkinson of the Royal Oak, Paley Street.
Is there a competition amongst the wealthy and well-known to buy up every half decent pub in Berkshire?
Jury is out on this one, more in due course. The Bray pub nomads are on the move again.

First visit for a pub lunch with colleagues
Menu was disappointingly overpriced and poncey. No simple pub food like sandwiches. Even the burger was served on a wooden plank instead of a plate which is usually a bad sign in my book.
Very nice guest ale though - Henley Bridge.

The great pub crawl continues... This weekend hit sleepy village of Holyport just near Maidenhead... Blegian Arms, lovely setting on the village pub, but a little poncy for my tastes. Ale not bad, didnt have any food as not my cup of tea... Overall pleasant but more restaurant than pub

I've been going here occasionally for about a year now but only for beers.
Just had lunch today. We were greeted by a charming smiley girl, given menus promptly and brought drinks in no time at all.
The prawn and salmon sandwich came with salad & chips and looked very appealing; my ham, eggs & chips was a pink and unctious slab of delicious piggy with a couple of perfectly fried eggs and crisp chips.
The Oxford Gold went down a treat and one was not enough. Another smiley lady came to check that we were happy with our food and thanked us when we left.
Well done and thank you!

Cramped Oldey Worldey pub. Good selection of beers.
Also a restaurant but nothing worth writing home about. Nice view of the village pond mind.
