I love the Cock. Food is great what ever day of the week but especially Sunday - the roasts are FAB!

Awesome!! I cannot imagine which pub 'Somerstown' were in but it bears no resemblance to the Cock that I eat my Sunday roast in most weeks. Probably the best Sunday roast in Kent (apart from my Mum's). The only problem I have ever had is getting a table! I now book.

I had a meal here about a month ago. Warm welcome and reasonable beer. The food was first class. Went there for Sunday roast today. Welcome was still good, beer, Greene King, food though awful. Meat tough as old boots, roast spuds more like mash and tough greens. Chef asked how the meal was and was told about the meat. But not given a penny off or apology. So my last visit there. Can only assume they have changed chefs. A real, and expensive disappointment.

First visit since the new management. Menu upgraded and now with above-average prices. Portions are huge, however. Sunday menu has roasts and a couple of items from the normal menu, rest of the week include sandwiches and jacket spuds. Abbot Ale still good.

Now being managed by the same chap that runs the General Wolfe in Westerham (for Green King). Hope he makes as much of a success of this one. First impressions, friendly staff, good old-fashioned interior with big open fire, beer (standard GK fare, IPA and Abbott) was not great, but early days.

Since my visit last year they have now started to cheap & cheerful cooked food on Sundays. I'm talking sausage, egg, beans, chips sort of thing but it's all good. Had Green King IPA & Abbot ale on this time. Tried both, enjoyed both.

Visited this lovely pub over the weekend whilst walking to Toys Hill. There was a very friendly bunch at the bar and a roaring log fire warming one of the two bars we were in. The beer was fine and we felt most welcome although did not stop for food.

Nice country pub on Ide hill village green. Used to be a bit anti-ramblers but seems to have new owners that are much friendlier. Adnams and Green king IPA both OK, not great. Note, they only do cold food on Sunday lunchtimes, which is odd, but the ploughmans and sarnies were fine.

Nice Abbotts. Great old country pub close to village green.
