This is a vintage pub inhabited by vintage people. It's got a real local feel to it, everyone knows each other, and they are pretty friendly- even to the 'hated students' We were brave enough to try it last year, and before long we were accepted as locals. Gets busy on Stoke match days. They've added double glazing, and apparantly the old spelling argument graffiti on the walls has been removed. It's got one of the most 'interesting' beer gardens in the world, and even has a table football table. Quality in a strange way.

looks like it hasn't changed much in years. a proper locals pub with customers made up of old blokes and shady 30-somethings.
pool table in the back, mould on the wall. A proper pub this.

This was a safe haven for away fans in the bad old 80s. No idea what it is like these days but it was much appreciated at the time as a good, unthreatening place for a few pre-match pints.
