Student pub, cheap and shabby
|
It is a unashamed stundent pub. Does what it says on the tin (to quote from an advert).
I did make me chuckle that a quote from 3 years ago said that everything in the place is sticky...... it's true. That's exactly how I found it 2 weeks ago when I went in there with a friend for a cheeky beer, well a lager anyway. Which was so gassy it nearly came flying out of my nose!
As for the place being sticky....... well it IS full of students! yuk!

Pitiful student establishment.
|
Last time I went in there was about 5 years ago the average then was 16! Things have improved the menu looked good but had eaten. The beer was ok but not for a card carring CAMRA member.
|
this was pub number 4 on our crawl and was alright... inside it was very hot think they need some A/C... so we sat outside that over looks the canal which was quite plesent.... also they have got a stacker machine which is very addictive once u have a go...

Bad point (and it's a biggy): Everything in this pub is sticky. Avoid touching tables, doors, bars, anything really.
Good points: sometimes there's some great live music. Every Wednesday is pound a pint AND live bands, both rareties in this town.

Excellent pub, good atmosphere, but it can get busy in the evenings, especially if there's football or a social event on. I've got food ther a couple of times and it's arrived pretty much on time, not too bad.
Drink there.

The pub has just had a major refurb and has new colour / decor scheme away from the usual "Screem" theme. All beer now "Extra Cold" and lots of variety in the Lager range. Limited Bitters. No Real Ales. Bar prices good value. Food served. Big screens throughout. Basement bar now called "The Underground" open every evening refurb down there probably the best of the lot! Pub attracts (mainly) student types, and even though it's big can get rammed on a good night.

Hmmm, I've been to far nicer places. It is full to the brim with scary goths, ear splittingly loud rock music and occasionally a woeful local band..... still as a student I do appreciate the cheap drinks.

i can honestly say that it's the best pub in leamington! just discovered it, allthough i have been there before aswell, but only during the day. so i haven't seen whats really going on there. shame! and i have been here for the hole bloody year. have been looking for this kind of place where i could listen metal and etc. alternative music. and it was under my nose the hole time...
but yeah.. about the place. cheap. funky. and the most important - the crowd. i mean i have met so many new cool people. music is just fantastic. i felt like home again. live bands. just like heaven :D and it stays open till 1. what else colud u wish for, a!?
but is it like this everywhere in england that people r just sitting. don't move at all... this was annoyng that place where we could have jumped was full of sofas - WHY? kinda pointless for me...
but otherwise - thumbs up!

okay if youre with friends. otherwise full of students and grungey-looking characters, where gender is often unclear.

All i can say is thank the lord for the Bobbins Bell. This is where we local kids come to play, it's a pub full of nice people appart from when the occasional townie comes in and soon realises he is in the wrong pub. Bring on the Rock thanks Niel for keeping this night going. And Andy thanks for being fair and taking care of all us locals. A great place to meet up with good honest people into a scene a little more alternative than ur usual up town pub.

Full of skaters and goffs but the drinkz are cheap!

drum and base one night, metal the next! what more can one ask for? little liz!!!
|
this pub is so chilled out, come down on sunday to chill out and listen to the live music, good chance to get your own band seen in the perfect scene.

Another screem pub, but this ones broken away from the norm.
The place is packed with students, but rather than drinking cheap booze until they bleed, there is a lovely atmosphere.
Discount on drinks on production of a 'Yellow Card', young and friendly staff, and pool tables and sofa's to boot.
Saturday night is 'Inferno' night, where you can venture downstairs to rock your socks off, I've been many times, and had a superb time!.
One of Leamingtons best, not to be missed!.

A word from a Well regular:

A very good pub, 1 drinks on a tuesday night is brilliant. Bigger than it looks with heaps of sofas, bright and vibrant with the biggest big big screen there is. It has a basement which opens up mid-evening and provides a very cosy atmosphere, we spent a night getting trollied in there in aid of an 18th birthday, the best night of my life in one pub.

I love the well! my home for almost 5 years now.
pub quiz then open mic on a sunday's the coolest, and 1/drink on tue can't be beaten.
Though 1am bar thur-sun means it's the only place open late on a sunday night, so those that don't appreciate the fact it's an 'alternative' pub come down at 11ish :(

The Leamington student pub with the famous yellow card. Top marks for the furniture! The X-Box is a nice touch but its expensive without the yellow card!

One of my favourite bands was recently there (Mostly Autumn) brilliant! - this place rocks!

great pub, only downside is the size of the pool tables, absolutely tiny.
