The Tram Depot was not on my original hitlist of Cambridge pubs. But I decided to pay it a visit whilst nearby. I was very pleased that I did and am surprised that it has not yet made a Good Beer Guide. It's an Everard's pub that is away from the touristy areas of Cambridge and is therefore frequented more by locals. Everard's Old Original & Tiger was supplemented by their Small Beer No. 1, Lacon's Charter, Lincoln Green Marion & Titanic Cherry Dark. A selection of 4 ciders are dispensed from taps behind the bar. I plumped for the one that I didn't recognise, which dispensed as water. The 3 remaining ciders were Weston's Old Rosie, Orchard Pig Ginger & Chilli & Friel's Apple & Spiced Plum Cider. I went for the Friel's, thinking it was their standard cider with a strength of 7% or more. So, the Plum cider was a pleasant surprise. The drinking environment is quite dark. But with friendly staff and plenty of available seating, I really liked this place.

Several Everards beers on tap when we visited for a pre-match pint, as well as one from the York Brewery and a Tram Shed pale ale.
Two pints came to just over £7. No Camra discount, but talking to the gaffer and he said he ought to consider it.
Decent enough place for a couple of pre-football pints, especially considering the lack of pubs in the vicinity of the football ground.

i'm not mad keen on the open plan thing but it's ok and being close to the uni has a bit of clientele. probably designed with large groups in mind.

This pub landlord/Manager was rude and ignorant. We arrived with a party of 10 adults & a 10 year old at 5:45 in the evening, we asked if we could bring in the 10 year old with us and told that would be ok, we then started to order food and were told that the child had to be seated. We asked if that was the law and told that it was. The child was playing bar billiards with one of our party with no noise. We decided that this was unreasanable and cancelled our food order and left. the landlord needs to make up his mind if children are allowed in his pub or not!!! needless to say dwe would not recommend thiis pub as familly friendly even in the early evening.

Useful pub for Anglia Ruskin U and the Grafton Centre - not exceptional but with enough better features to make it worthwhile visiting e.g. beer quality high (though more out-of-the ordinary beers not always available), plenty of room and patio drinking outside and a good-value menu of well-prepared food (better than average if you're shopping around lunchtime). The sofas at one end are far too low and you may require help to stand up!

Disagreement accepted ! Beer range today was tremendous - Everards plus some really interesting small but competent breweries (Burton Bridge & Titanic), decently kept and friendly barman - happy to be corrected.

Unexceptional open-plan pub close to more characterful pubs near the shops (Free Press, Elm Tree etc). No exceptional features; limited beer range on a Wednesday night. Tiger OK but real ale not a strong point.

A pleasant half of Everard's Tiger last Saturday night during a Cambridge crawl. No food tasted in this visit but an extensive menu is available lunchtimes and evenings.

Large open-plan pub built on the site of a former tram shed (you can still see some track outside). Comfortable sofas abound, a choice of six real ales from the Adnams range plus guests and food is available all day.

Was always a good place to go for a beer before going the the cinema. seemed to end up there when going on dates as well. nice little pub with friendly staff and good a nice pint.

Decent place; Everards pubs are a good thing. Not half as good as when smaller with the upstairs section; now too many mirrors. Food is good however.

Not as picturesque as it used to be - the 'loft' was the only place to be in the olden days - but still a pleasant environs. It's an Everards pub, but that was good for my as it provided me with a very tasty Original that no-one else (in several dozen other pubs) seemed to have.

Refurbished since last visit, but still a good pub. Beers include Everards Tiger, Original, Adnams and Fuller's London Pride. I tried the Tiger which was in good condition. No music on at the time of visit. A low ceiling, tiled floor and subdued lighting all combine to provide a pleasant atmosphere in which to sup your pint.

I visited this pub in 1998, quite a spacious and buzzing hostelry with a fine range of ales, including Everards. Hope the pub has not changed since 1998.
