I often visit this pub for food and must say it has been better in the past, the guy who mentioned the food being served on a wooden board was lucky to have eaten here when owned by previous owner when the food was at its peek, sadly now its run by novices a landlady who does not know how to hold onto good chefs, portion sizes now very small to fit in with there value menu also since changed chef, think the landlady has to much influance in the kitchen and wants to save cash somehow. I like to think I support this pub by visiting it all year round even in winter when it does no buisness and today we visited and they said they where to busy to give us a table even tho the pub was empty, its lost it good coustomer service and good food, bring back Yarro and his manager he knew how to run a pub these kids and landlady do not.

Danishdish, I had an awful pint of lager here last week so if he contacts me with a similar message, i shall follow suit.

I haven't checked my Beer in the Evening account for ages but the first message I read was from Dawsons who has told me to f&ck off for not writing a nice review about his pub. I sincerely hope that he is no longer there because if he is I will NEVER go back, my review was not rude or abusive so if he contacts me again I will report him.

Visited the Flight Tavern for the first time last weekend - our kids love looking at planes so we wanted to take them to Gatwick but you can't do that now in the airport itself as they've closed the viewing gallery. We had a good time - the food was plentiful and freshly cooked and good value at 2 main meals for 10. Kids menu was OK but not quite a good value. Good choice of lagers and local ale. Overall standard of the pub though was OK but it does need some investment - loos are a bit run down and the overall decor needs updating plus the bouncy castle that is advertised as being available each weekend was not inflated. However I think with some TLC this could be a little gem - I could imagine it being really popular in the summer as the garden is excellent - and the landlady seemed really nice and helpful. We'll definitely come back soon and it does have great views of the planes taking off!

Beer garden always seems full as you drive past, and must admit its pleasant sitting out there with a glass of cider on a hot sunny day.

Called into this pub as I was booked into the close Travelodge. After the walk of death down an un-lit B Road I eventually made it to the pub.
Recently taken over as the previous owners went bankrupt (strange given previous comments !!). The pub is a large well maintained pub with what should be a fab beer garden in the summer. I sampled the Spitfire and the Doombar, the doom tasted fine but was flat as with all southern ales.
The food looked and tasted good, but whats it all about having your burger served on a wooden board ?? had to ask for a plate (cold) so that i could eat my supper !"! saying all that it was nice and defo home made so no corporate crap !! if this pub could attract customers and keep them then i reckon it could be half decent, nothing worse than a decent pub only a quarter full. Worth a visit I reckon in the summer time when hopefully the visa machine will be working !! oh and do anything to avoid the walk of death back to the Travelodge !!

This is the best pub in crawley the gatwick area and possibly if we did carlsbury the best pub in the world but then some idiot decided that his pub is doing not so well to rubbish this one well not happening dude CCTV shows who you were so please stop or I will get personal back...
|
Look if you want to be personal because your pub is terrible then fine but dont forget you cannot leave a commet saying that you have not been to the pub for years and expect customers to believe it - but then this site is not managed as such they just want 300 per year and will control any comment anybody makes just so long as you pay it which is nice....

Interesting review from topgun14 as we stopped going to this pub years ago as each Manager that takes over has ruined the place after a few months. It was a fantastic Bass pub and has been ruined by Mitchells & Butler and all those who have taken it over since.

This pub is in a great location for the planes and looks very nice on first approach. Each time we have visited it has been almost empty. There are only 2 real ales on offer, one of which tasted awful. Cannot stress enough not to eat in this place as the food is terrible and not cheap either. Having had a really bad meal we brought this to the waitress attention but she was not interested and would not do anything about it. We were made to feel as if we were trying it on to get our money back because - as we were told - they get a lot of that. Really bad insulting service will not be going back.

This is a great pub with great food and friendly staff. REf other postings, if you only go to the pub to see the planes take off, and they are taking off in the other direction due to the wind...........i hardly see that as fair to make the pub down for that...they dont have control over air traffic control..!! The staff here bend over backwards to assist you and the venue is also used for wedding receptions/christenings etc..and Sarahs home made cakes are to die for...

I visited this pub with friends and a small baby, we were made to feel extremely welcome, which is unusal these days when you have a niggly child. The food was excellent, and it was an extensive menu at very reasonable prices, the staff were helpful and jolly. The garden is vast and would be wonderful on a hot summers day. I will certainly be returning and would recommend to all.

Dear Sarah and Marco, I just wanted to express my thanks to you and your staff for the wonderful evening I had last Tuesday. I have had nothing but compliments about the location, the food, and hospitality we received on the night. I know that was my swan song from BA, but it is a very large community at the airport, and there were a lot of people from other organisations too, who will spread a positive message about the Flight Tavern. Thank you once again for making the night so special, and I shall be in for lunch in the near future. Very best wishes.
Roger Wilson.

We used the Flight Tavern for a company quiz night, using the left hand end of the bar area, opting for a catered buffet. I cannot fault the Tavern for anything, it was a brilliant evening. The service, the location, and above all the quality of the food was second to none, and we will have no hesitation whatsoever to return to do it all over again in the new year. I have no negatives at all, from any of our party of 29.

Used to be a super place to have a pint. Now it is geared for meals, but these are of poor quality. Expect a lot of aircraft noise but not a lot of Aircraft in view.
|
We went to this pub on bank holiday monday,it was very busy and we only just managed to get a table outside. Both the food and service was good, shame we couldnt see any planes though.
|
I try and visit The Flight Tavern once a week. I find it very quiet(no trouble). The bar staff are friendly and so are the owners. The food is very good. I highly recommend it to anyone who is in the area.
|
Its only got a 1 because I could park the car!! This had to be the worst drinking and dining experience ever. The food was awful and when you asked the staff for anything they were very polite etc but never came back and were too busy chatting with their mates at the bar. I don't usually go in for really slagging a place off but if you go and are disappointed dont say you weren't warned. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

The Flight Tavern has new owners - Must be worth trying us out.
|
This pub used to be brilliant when owned by Bass. The only saving grace was that they had London Pride on tap although not the best kept. The food was below average and the waiting service extremely poor. Certainly not recommended.
|
Really poor selection of ales. London Pride saving it but is not always good. Flight Tavern used to be a briliant pub in the Bass days but is sadly lacking now. Food okay but really nothing to write home about. Service slow, disorganised and at times offhand. Not recommended unless you are staying in the Caravan Club site next door as there's nothing else.
|
Visited this pub the other day. The pub was excellent with really good food and the prices were not bad either. The service was pleasent and polite. The toilets were also some of the cleanest that I have ever seen.
|
Though I agree this is a good pub, it still hurts when I visit as this was our Gatwick Aero Club. A private club where we (all airlines, customs and all airport staff) all could meet, even in uniform for a post duty get together. Times do change and the Flt Tav is good value and great in the summer.
|
lovely food at reasonable prices, staff very friendly and helpfull

I live locally, and often visit this pub. The food and service are excellent, have never had a problem with either. Lots of space, and a superb garden. Good disabled access too - I am in a wheelchair. (Parking, ramps and a disabled loo.) A real nice place to spend time.
|
Fantastic food. Can't remember the name of that sauce but it's lovely. Old fashioned music and good service

it is very sexy pub. has potential to be a well known pub. has friendly staff but some of them are useless (e.g Laura)Good management. The short waitress and assistant manager are very cheery and always smiling. We had a lovely time
