A pleasant pub with a cheerful welcome and efficient service - and the offer of barrelled glasses for your pints! Ale was in tip-top condition, with four from which to choose. Prices what you would expect in this part of central London. A gastro-pub, but with ample space if you want just a drink. The food menu looked good but pricey. Worth a visit when in the area. 8/10.

Just moved back to the Marylebone area after being away for around a year. The Coach Makers is just as I remember it. The drinks are very overpriced, the staff are just there to serve pints - very formal, not much room for a laugh. It's okay, but I wouldn't stay for more than one drink.

A wonderfully-preserved Victorian exterior greets the eye as one crosses Bentinck Street to the front entrance of this pub. However, arguably, that aesthetic has not been observed indoors; clearly a recent refubishment has seen to it that the Coach Makers is far from traditional, and aims fairly and squarely at the restaurant and wine bar fraternity/sorority. It isn't unpleasant, like some stark and antiseptic contemporary bars can be, but it just didn't seem quite the right fit somehow, and I have to say I left feeling no real sense of depth or character, other than it was expensive, and plainly designed to attract the moneyed classes of Marylebone.
The service was okay though hardly welcoming. The usual London crap really. My pint of ale was served acceptably though weirdly my cousin's lager was severely lacking in measure - when he asked politely for a top-up one was given but it was so half-hearted that it barely made any difference. Not good at the best of times, but when in the realms of the �4+ pint....
The people weren't objectionably obnoxious or loud (although one might have expected that they would be); the conversation around the various tables was measured and created a pleasant enough backgroun burr. But there was more than a whiff of underlying snootiness about the place, and nothing about it made me want to outstay the limited welcome I'd received. After a single drink cuz and I decided to bat on for somewhere a little less-refined, but with more depth and feeling. We ended up at the Golden Eagle, and found just that!

Called in here a week ago with some friends. Not bad at all although I have to say we were outside and not inside as the weather was glorious! We had a nice cider (all be it pricey at well over �4.40 a pint!) I would return to sit outside and watch the world go by but I dont think I would return to sit inside.

Held an afternoon party in the upstairs room - very helpful staff and our instructions about food and drink were all followed. Room was shabby chic and perfect for grown ups and big enough for the 3 or 4 children to play.

Seemed liked a nice pub. They advertised their upstairs bar as a 'gin palace' but was shocked that they didnt have any slimline tonic...they served me a gin and regular tonic which was flat and quite horroble. The nice girl upstairs said they'd had the issue all day, i suggested they nip out and buy some tonic as it's fairly fundamental to the key way of drinking gin, i.e. a gin and tonic??!! I was told this wasnt possible and to have something else. I ordered an alternative and nipped down to ask the manager, who said "alright luv, its only just happened, we'll go out and get some" in a really rude way. Then they didnt even bother to get slimline either. Far from ideal, wont be going back!!

Decent pub but nothing extraordinary. Reasonable food, reasonable pints on tap, and reasonable to high prices. I like they occassional scotch, it's a shame that in this place they seem to be "out of" particular bottles a lot, or down to the last bit in the bottle. Happened to me 3 or 4 times now. However, this is a small comment, I like it in winter when the light the fireplace upstairs - then it can be quite comfortable.

Decent pub with friendly staff and clientele. Decent food, perhaps at bit pricey. Fine selection of beers.
