Yes, unfortunately my husband and several of our friends have been given a hard time by these obnoxious thugs and as a result we have also decided to boycott this establishment. If I was the manager I’d be concerned and so to that individual I would simply say this; if you want to keep your customers, ensure that they are treated with respect. If however you want them to spend their money elsewhere, then by all means continue to employ bouncers who are needlessly rude, intimidating and belligerent.

I'd just like to agree with richw012. In many respects this is an excellent pub and is quite lively on a Saturday night. However, they are badly let down by seriously aggressive bouncers who evidently find it amusing to intimidate customers as they arrive. Having been on the receiving end of this myself on a couple of occasions and witnessing it happening to others as well, I eventually complained to the manager. I might as well have spoken to a brick wall for all the good that did. I therefore no longer attend this pub and would urge anyone in a similar position to do the same. There are plenty of other places to go in Camden where you aren’t hassled by security as you pass through the doors. Has anyone else had problems with the bouncers at this place?

Very aggressive bouncers would avoid completely

First thing you see upon entering- a neon sign saying "Order Here" above the bar. Well I wasn't going to order my drinks anywhere else in the building, but then I thought the sign was a double meaning and implied this is an orderly establishment. That is certainly true, a younger crowd, polite middle class and non-threatening. Expensive drinks though good selection. Comedy upstairs. Bar atmosphere. All in all an average place but one sadly I'm unlikely to return to at £4.50 for a pint.

More of a 'bar' than a pub in fairness, pub they pull it off fairly well. Obligatory hipster bar staff who stand around updating their twitter pages on their Iphones. Beer selection is what you would expect, continentals and a good real ale selection(served in a dimpled glass actually), they have some strange beers like Samuel Adams on tap but this is more of a whiskey and coke place tbf.
Pretty dead from until around 9pm when it fills up and in fairness the atmosphere is decent. Good tunes and a nice place to pick up American tourists come 1am.

Decent enough solid boozer

Jack of all trades but a master of none as it doesn't seem to really know what it is. Had a decent pint of Junction and there were three ales on, two from Sambrooks. Even got a glass with a handle. However, it's very dark, the two halves are dominated by big screens showing football and there was loud music competing with that. Will get busy enough from where it is though so I suppose it feels it needs to cater for everyone.

Shocking, can not believe 1pt of soda water = 2! No pub I know (as a Camden resident) charges that.

I gotta say I don't recognise this pub from the description below - I see it was written by someone calling themselves 'stroppy' so perhaps it's not surprising it's almost totally negative. All I can say is that I've been here tons of times and never felt cold or had to fight my way in past pushchairs and shoppers, and I've never been abused by anyone in there either - in fact the punters and staff are generally pretty decent IME. Believe me if they weren't I wouldn't go in there and it wouldn't be one of my fave pubs in the area.
I like the 'feel' of this place and it's location - it's really handily placed and being on a corner you can sit and watch the world go by (and in this place that can be fun!) as well as gaze upon the beauty of ye olde Sports Direct shoppe over the road. Admittedly it isn't a great place for you real ale enthusiasts, but it's reasonably priced for the area and the beer always seems ok to me.
The tv feed is not appalling at all and they show most live football games (2 screens) - however they don't usually put the sound up, so there's better places around for watching footy if that's your thing. As for the pool table, I was in there the other day and they seem to have got rid of it, which is a good thing as it wasn't a very good one and took up too much space. Another improvement I noticed - and what a major one it is! - is they've just upgraded the gents toilets and they're now the best I can think of in the area. Big thumbs up for that!
As for the food I can't comment as I've never had any but if the prices are like the booze then it's probably reasonably priced - it's no 'gastropub' (thank god) but it's probably an ok place for a burger. I've noticed that the staff eat there so it can't be that bad!
So anyway this is definitely in my top 3 pubs in the area - and probably unlike 'stroppy' I do live locally! (but have no connection with the pub at all) - so don't let the odd negative comment by some misery-guts put you off visiting here. It's one of the best in Camden town.

Could be the best pub in Camden by a mile....................but it isn't....
What a waste of a perfect bar size and layout. Just seems like they can't be bothered to do anything with it. The doors are always open so it's freezing in there. The entrance is usually busy with pushchairs and people with shopping waiting for their other half to use the loo. The pool table is tiny and wonky, the satelite tv connection is appaling and jerky and the staff were ignoring everyone whlist a horrible 'camden casualty' staggered around hurling abuse at everybody in his eye line....
However, as i say...it could be great. The food was good and pretty cheap too.

Nice to see this pub go back to its' original name (what the hell was 'Liberties' supposed to mean anyway ?) good decor nice range of furniture and staff numerous and efficent. No real ale on which was a blow and my 2nd choice of beer (Hoegaarden) was "off until monday" ( 3 days away). So must be marked down for this.

This was the third and last pub we visited on our trip. Sad to note only one real ale - Adnams - despite there being lots of choice for everything else. Very noisey - lots of loud music but it seemed to add to the atmosphere I thought. Seemed like a friendly bunch of people - you can't help get in eachothers way here due to the layout of the tables and chairs etc. I passed these comments onto my wife when we left but she disagreed. Apparently there was a lot of congealed blood on the walls of the ladies toilets which she found (rightly) very off-putting. marked down mainly due to the lack of real ale - nice as it was!

The Camden Head is one of my favourite locals in Camden. Over the past two years, I've found the staff there to be a friendly and dedicated team that's put a lot of effort into transforming what was once a fairly rough-and-tumble establishment into a buzzy and happy bar that caters to an eclectic clientele.
It's unfortunate that the reviewer above had a bad time. I don't know the particular circumstances of his or her visit, but it certainly goes against what I've experienced here. On all my visits, the Camden Head has been a warm and welcoming environment. Recommended.

As a regular at the pub since liberties days can only say theyve transormed this pub into a great boozer, good selection of drinks, great decor and eclectic music policy(miles davis followed by teenage kicks),they got a good pool table and the same staff working there since it changed hands, always a good sign in my book.Got live music and comedy upstairs too, only downside is no cloakroom for jackets and bags, otherwise all good and its open till 3 fri/ sats rock on.

It's even better if you like to get hit by a bottle in your face like it happened to my friend. The worst maybe was to be told to f**k off cos they were closing down. And being told that being paid 5 pounds an hour why should they care?? Keep up the good work!! My first time in London and my last in Camden Head.. I wouldnt recommend it to anyone who wants to feel safe having a late drink. The funny thing is we were just passing by, it looked quite cool inside. Beware, there's dodgy people drinking there!! - Report

Its a great place if you like to get a bottle thrown at your face like it happened to my friend last night. The scottish bar manager showed him the cctv footage and spotted an unidentified customer aiming at him from the bar.. What was the bar staff looking at? After that they kicked us out cos they were closing down simply telling us to f**k off. What a nice little place! They obviously can't ensure the safety of their customers!! I'm never gonna go back there..
