if it wasnt for the frustratingly sporadic opening times this would be a great place. lovely area and on a sunny day you can take your pint on to the green behind the pub. very friendly staff, decent beers and the food is excellent and importantly it caters very werll for Gluten Free and Vegetarians.
however, we've visited 4 times and only managed to get inside twice as its seems to closed all the time... why?

Lovely sunday lunch here, despite carvery not being available. Two nice roasts on offer with plenty of vegetables, yorkie puds etc. Much better than our previous visit - staff nice and welcoming, food tasty, good value for money (10/head). Will defo be back.

Really disappointing - waited nearly an hour from 12pm this lunchtime for them to decide to bring out the carvery and, to add insult to injury, they then gave everyone the smallest dinner plate I have ever seen in any restaurant! My grandson's child portion filled it! Can only assume usual patrons are greedy piggies who can't be trusted not to take too many veg coz the meat was portioned out (amply I must say) by the server. Many better pubs in the area for similar price where you are made much more welcome. Could do much better on the hospitality front but food was really pretty good...

Been twice only because the first time was shut saturday afternoon which seemed strange but my mate lives in the village and says it has odd hours. Beer was reasonable food probably better than the ale the only choice was rebellion
