Spent an hour or so here in November when visiting relatives in village. Excellent pub & beer. Very welcoming atmosphere and friendly locals. Must visit the relatives again!

yeah it really is great. the food is amazing but you could burst the portions are so big. the locals are probably the best laugh you'll ever have. the beer is great

A hidden gem: excellent beer, and very close to picturesque landscape surrounding the village of Bolton Percy. A typical English idyll (cricket matches in the summer too)

It's also worth pointing out that York is the nearest railway station to Bolton Percy - Ulleskelf is only 1.2 miles away if you fancy a swim across the Wharfe ... (by the same token, the Ferry at Cawood is rather more than 3 miles away)

One of the many millions of Sam Smiths pubs which can be found in the York area. The differences between the Crown and the others are: first, it's got a lovely setting in Bolton Percy village and is bang alongside the River Wharfe. Secondly, it's a Sam Smiths pub and is therefore cheap. Thirdly, the Sam Smiths brewery in Tadcaster is about three miles up the road, meaning you'll rarely get a bad pint (I've never had one, at any rate)

Very much a locals pub, and a bit poky inside, but a fantastic place to sit and have a leisurely pint on a summers evening.
