The Monk's Walk was undoubtedly one of my favourite pubs in Beverley. It's an attractive building on a street leading towards the Minster. I'm told the landlord used to work at the Minster and has recently taken ownership. He was quite a friendly chap. There are 2 bars - a small bar to the left of the central alleyway and a larger bar on the right-hand side. 5 ales were on in all - York Yorkshire Terrier & Missouri Gold & Great Newsome Jem's Stout, Frothingham Best & Sleck Dust. The latter two were served by gravity from the smaller bar, whilst the first 3 were on handpull in the main bar. Another handpull in the smaller bar was dispensing Atom Camomile, whilst Colemans Cider Company Dry was also in that room. The landlord was keen to light candles to get everybody in the mood and the pub does have a kind of medieval feel. A CAMRA discount is available on request, which I only discovered on my second round.

An attractive, idiosyncratic layout - with friendly welcome and efficient service. Ale is well-kept. Has just started to serve food. I had the bangers and mash, which was served as a very hearty portion with three wild boar sausages, a mountain of mash plus peas and onion gravy. Excellent all round. 10/10.

A strange changing place. Had a recent face lift and modernisation, beers expensive a touristy trap kind of place. Used to be called The George and Dragon until 25yrs ago, where you could go in a piano room sing your head off and a good night was had by all! One of the old pubs of Beverley always full and all happy with lots of beer down them! Many years ago there was a shed round the back, where the beer garden is now. A man used to make clay pipes and sell them around the town from it, this was in the 1800s A pub with history, if you look for it. Worth a visit if only to check the history out.

Went there end of Sept '11 - a few 'Gothy'-looking regulars. Nice place, friendly locals & staff. 'Atmospheric', you could probably say.
|
Went there 9/14. Opens later in the day, 5:00pm. Not changed much from the last visit except a pool table occupies the old back room.

Went to visit on Saturday 15/08/09 but it was boarded up.

A nice pub that has not been spoiled by unnecessary modernisation. A decent selection of ales and beers and I have no complaints about quality. Been here a few times and always an essential stop on any tour of Beverley's real ale offerings.

Well a lot of handpumps but only one warmish real ale on the other day. Can't see why this place has rave reviews on other sites just looks like a touristy trap to me but perhaps i hit it on a bad day who knows but even the lager was off!!!!

Just around the corner from Beverley Minster (hence the name, I suppose) and yet another pub with draught Hoegaarden and a suitably impressive list of guest ales.
A regular haunt for myself and a few mates at New Year, although my memories of minutae of the pub is somewhat hazy. Wonder why ...
