Nice pub with good food and VERY EXPENSIVE BEER

Went for dinner a few weeks back and had a steak. When the waitress asked how it was my reply of "tough as old boots" was either not heard or the phrase has fallen out of fashion. However, the distress caused them when they understood the steak was tough was embarrassing - they took away the existing plate and provided a complete new set of everything with a steak which was beautifully tender, could cut with a fork.
(First steak was cooked to order - rare - as was the second, were they just unlucky with the meat? Seems likely).
Anyway the apologies and effort made to make the meal a pleasant one was incredible. I would recommend them wholeheartedly.

Stopped at this pub just because I thought a Fulller's pub wouldn't be awful. Nearly turned around as I came in the door because it was 1970s awful, but I was hungry. Had an excellent pint of HSB, and was pleased to find a lower room with a fire place that was much older and more pleasant. I ate macaroni cheese that was competently microwaved. All in all, a strange mixture.

Nice enough pub. Friendly service, good food, but VERY expensive beer (3.50 for Discovery). Why are Fuller's pub so expensive?

Went to this pub the other Saturday night for a bite to eat. It was around 7.30pm and a lot of the choices on the menu where finished. One of my friends was told his meal had finished and had to choose something else, just after we'd finished our starters! Then he was told to pay the difference, which we thought was shocking as it was their mistake!! The chicken tikka starter & sirloin steak was very nice, although others were disappointed with their meals, finding meat tough and fatty. There was also a mixup with some orders, which involved a bit of sliding food from one plate to another, no hassle, but annoying as the pub was not busy. Unfortunately the pub is not as nice as it looks on the outside. I was expecting some real old world charm, but it had the look of your average harvester, and our table was dirty.

Used to come here a lot and visited for the first time in over 10 years at the weekend. Pretty much unchanged: pleasant and comfortable. Beer is standard Fuller's and therefore expensive, but the HSB was very well kept.Didn't try the food, but it looked good - may go back and give it a go.

Good comfortable food pub with a nice atmosphere - could do with a decent ale other than Seafarers HSB.
