please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Good location, good beer, good food and some very easy on the eye barmaids, had three real ale on tap the ones that I tried were good.

Good view from the beer garden over the small harbour/yacht area.

Recommended for a drink if you in the town

One of those pubs that's very much run for the regulars. Bar staff are okayish and the beer is all right but if this pub was in a less pretty location it would have died years ago.

Had a pint of their guest beer which was stone cold, cloudy and totally flat. Sent it back. The barmaid said that she'd get someone to check the beer and walked off without an appology or offering me an alternative beer. Left standing there. Four minutes later some lad walks into the bar and pours a half of the stuff and sticks a thermometer in it and turns round without even establishing eye contact. When I said "Hello, it's me, would you like to talk to me?" He just said, "I was asked to look at the beer. I don't know who complained and I don't know you from Adam." When pushed, he then said "There's nothing wrong with it.". Not "It's a northern beer and it's supposed to taste like that" or "Sorry Sir, I'm just checking it, I'll be with you in a minute." Just "There's nothing wrong with it." So I took his word for it and had a new pint, which was better than the first, but still very poor. Bitter, musty and lumps of yeast floating in it. Drank up quickly and walked out. So rude, so arrogant. And 3.60 a pint. Who the hell do these people think they are? They're just having a laugh. An absolute disgrace. Avoid this place like the plague and go to the excellent Coal Exchange just up the road.

Every visit to Emsworth over the last couple of years(about seven) has included a visit to the Lord Raglan and have yet to be disappointed.
Warm welcome every time and as most visits have been in summer have used the excellent garden.Good food at very reasonable prices and friendly service plus London Pride is worth checking out.Enjoy!

It looked like a proper drinkers pub but they were a small minority sat at the bar. The rest of the place was full of chattering diners who seemed to think they were characters from Howard's Way. Another ex Gales Fullers establishment. I went for the Seafarers which was a nice pint but not having a boat I felt out of place here.

A proper drinkers pub with excellent beer and an outspoken landlord. Just the right level of scruffiness around the edges, no sign of plastic artificial anywhere and the bonus of a garden overlooking the salt lake and sea water canal. A good log fire in Winter.
I'm pleased to say that Carol Godsmark, food and drink critic of the Portsmouth Evening News has just totally slated this pub. I wouldn't step through the door of most establishments that she raves about as she has absolutely no idea of what constitutes a good pub and regularly enthuses about modern, plastic, "olde worlde" imitations that sell badly kept beer and huge portions of stodge food (witness the Rising Sun at old Clanfield - one of the worst pubs in Hampshire). That's great Carol; your report should keep all those awful townies and their obnoxious children out leave this little gem for the locals to continue to enjoy.

I like this pub a lot ... has character, good food(very good sometimes), an outside area and friendly staff. It is sort of out of the way in terms of Emsworth's main square, but all the better for it. It has that something that good pubs all have which is that you feel welcome even before you say anything. Do give it a try.
