A doorman opened the door for me and welcomed me inside where I discovered a singer/guitarist and 3 customers!

Called in with a few friends last night, I've been before but it's really changed. they have new management, the staff are lovely and friendly. and the drunken kids are gone to be replaced with much nicer people, well worth visiting now.

I was meeting a friend in Heswall last Friday lunchtime and we went here for coffee. It was excellent - friendly and relaxed. We ended up going back in the evening for some beers and again it felt nicely chilled and safe. I dont know how it got the bad reviews posted earlier on this site but the bubbly barmaid we were talking to was saying something about new owners - which i see another post on this site mentions this. Whatever, it's a great place and it'll certainly be on my route next time i'm out and about in Heswall.

The Stables has been taken over In January, its undergoing a major overhall to get rid of the reputation its got, a new dress code, new genre of music and an older client�le are being aimed at, its open daily WED-SAT serving freshly ground coffee and home made cakes and will soon be serving light lunches, Draught lager has been added also, its been bought by 4 friends but being run by Natalie and Adam and the atmosphere has completely changed, it now has nice cosy sofa's to enjoy a bottle of wine with friends live music from well known local bands on Sundays in April and accomplished DJ's on a Saturday night. They are after a new name also which is important to shake off the bad rep its got. i urge you to check it out !

Thought I'd try this place last night because the nearby Barcode was closed for a private party.
Walked in the find just a handful of young lads. As I approached the bar one of them appeared to deliberately smash a bottle on the floor. Turned round and walked out.
Can't see the place lasting long.

I was told that the Stables re-opened a few weeks ago with new owners and staff so I went there on Saturday night.
I got as far as the door and noticed that there were no customers so I didn't go in.
Doesn't bode well.

Reopened after 1 month closure, same owners and staff. It is now for sale. Apparently no takers yet so has reopened to try to capture some business leading up to Christmas.

i have to agree with the other comments on here, unless you are a chav of course then i would recommend it!

A small, modern wine/bottle bar which opened in 2008. No draught beer.
Usual bottled beers and occasionally an unusual one like Viru and Desperados.
Wine and shots also available. Pricey.
Friendly manager and staff.
No food, TV�s, dart board, fruit or cigarette machines or car park.
Sometimes has a duo, singer or karaoke.
Only open in the evenings on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Closes 11pm Thursday and 1am Friday and Saturday night.
Occasionally closed to the public due to a private party.
Because of the late licence it often only fills up after all the usual Heswall pubs have closed.
This bar can�t quite decide what it wants to be. First it was �over 25�s� now it seems to let anyone in which occasionally leads to trouble from drunken chavs.
Has a doorman but he simply seems to make friends with the idiots.
