Corner pub on the High Road which stretches much further back than you'd expect. With 3 real ales and a real cider on handpump, this was the best of the new pubs I visited yesterday. Five Points Best, Park Isabella & Sharp's Sea Fury were the ales. Lilley's First Draught was the cider. This is a comfortable place that could easily be added to a decent crawl of pubs in this area.

Must have been a sight to behold in its day. You can still see the line in the ground where they opened up the lounge and the salon bar. The massive back room was most likely a billiards hall, now with horrible laminate flooring. I still found some evidence of nice stained glass on the back windows and in the toilets, and also what looked like a blocked-up dumbwaiter. The central bar area survives and is very attractive.

Overall, this pub is well worth a visit if you are in the area. I was in there on a Saturday afternoon (Leyton Orient must have been playing away) and there were about a dozen friendly regulars dotted around, reading newspapers and watching football.

I for one hope this place remains how it is, as I love nothing better than a crossword and a pint in a pub like this on a Saturday afternoon.

Scruffy but had a certain charm to it. Wallpaper falling of the wall and looked like its not been decorated in about thirty years. However friendly enough and served its purpose. Would return for a pre- match pint.

Two handpulls, but both turnround so no ale. Lager served in plastic containers on football days - overall lively with Col U fans but beer pretty poor IMO.

Vast no-frills pub close to Leyton Orient FC, although seems to be frequented more by away supporters. Handy for pre-match as it offers cheap food if you don't want a pie in the ground. Expensive on the beer front though - a pint of Kronenberg and a pint of Coke came to almost 7.

This is not just a football pub. On a Wednesday evening there is a Blues Jam in the back function room. Always a good selection of musicians and a different guest every week. Well worth the 2 entrance if you like Blues.

Usual Keg beers but they do have Courage Best (Wells) which is just about OK. Found one of the barman to be a bit obnoxious but the others were OK. Sometimes smells of stale cooking fat from the kitchen.
Nice big pub, not scruffy inside but the coloured lights are a bit over the top.
Worth a visit on a Wednesday for the music.

Always go in here when my team Hartlepool are playing the O's. It is a decent size pub and ideal for games, i.e. not posh, serves beer and normally has a good atmosphere.

We always seem to have a decent following in here and its often vocal without anybody getting a bit worried that we'll cause a riot!

It seems to be the main away pub in the area although there is normally a good number of home fans as well. I would recommend a visit if your team are playing at Orient.

Went to watch my beloved team play Orient and popped in this dive. Can't say a good word about it. The place has the worse Christmas decorations I have ever seen. Beer was terrible and expensive. Was told by a local that the Landlord has the weirdest haircut in Leyton. Can't even get that right?

The only place to go really if you're a visiting away supporter to Leyton Orient. Not a bad place really, a few big screens to watch the footie on. Recommended.

This pub looks like it should be rough from the outside but its a really good boozer and the atmosphere is always friendly. Its particularly cosey around christmas when the decorations are completely over the top but perfect

Lionel Richie is the best landlord ever

Good pub on Leyton High Street, looks seriously dilapidated from the outside, but a big, comfortable boozer inside. London Pride and Adnam's both well-kept and not too pricey, same for the filled rolls (basic ham/cheese selction). Also has big screen football and is festooned with flags from UK, Ireland, Jamaica and a few teams that have visited Orient in the past. If visiting Orient as an away fan you shouldn't get any trouble in here.

not a bad pub, staff are good, went to wathc united vs orient, some orient lads in there, but friendly atmosphere as 10 german bombers was sung by all!
ALEXDODMAN2 - 14 Aug 2005 21:46
Agreed a good pub for pre and post match drinks - although can get a bit naughty. Depends on who's playing the O's I suppose.

PS - That's not Lionel Richie, think ex-playschool presenter Derek Griffiths...

Visited on Saturday 30th August before Leyton Orient v Cheltenham. Not busy when we arrived at 1pm but soon filled up.

Yes - Lionel Ritchie still works there!! The bar staff put the cricket on for us Gloucestershire fans (!) and there was some friendly banter with the bar staff.

Went in after the game too, and chatted with very friendly locals/Orient fans.

Didn't stay for the evening singalong disco which looked like good entertainment.

Recommended pub.

Not bad, it's got a local feel, no real ale, noisy from TV and music, spacious and has pool but you do get stared at by the regulars when it's quiet. OK for a neutral meeting point but don't stay long.
