Nice little basic boozer, not been in for some 15 or so odd years. Tried the Black Sheep Bitter which although wasn't bang on, was palatable.

Traditional, unpretentious local on the edge of the town centre. It's cosy enough, with a housey feel, one traditionally furnished room meandering around a central bar, with a pool table at the rear. The front area has a pleasant wood-burning stove. Beers available on my visit included Three B's Doffocker, Black Sheep and Tetley Bitter, not the best selection in town but perfectly reasonable, the Doff Cocker was enjoyable, if the wrong choice for a freezing day! All in all not a bad place at all, and underrated on this site in my view.Would definitely return.

Called in 17/07/10 and tried the Blackburn brewery Three B's Doff Cocker (never tried before) and the familiar Black Sheep Best Bitter, both were very nice and very well kept.
The slightly plain unpromising looking outside belies the very nice welcoming interior. Although open plan around the central bar it still has a feel of the original room layouts with the bar area on the left and in front as you enter and a more loungey room to the right as you go in. There is a well decorated and lit pool room at the back and a dartboard in another room off to the back left.
The landlady seemed pleasant and atmosphere was very nice and a good start to a very good Saturday night out in Chorley; will definitely call in on a return visit.

G7SYY i do drink cask ale and can,t remember last time had bad pint in fact whilst i have been in the pub i have heard the keg drinkers complain more so taste buds seem ok not sure about yours

I know how doffcocker should taste and it should not taste like it has been filtered through a tramps underwear. If a pub sells cask ales they should know how to clean the lines and not try to sell ale past its sell by date. This place should not be in the good beer guide.

Went in for the first time recently and felt very welcome. I find Doff Cocker always tastes foul at the best of times so tried the guest Tetley Green Shoots at 1 a pint. Not remarkable but very drinkable and well kept, so I had no complaints.

I'm sure boltonbloke was in the potters, I called in on 11-3-10 and ordered a pint of doffcocker which must have been sat in the pipe for days and tasted like vinegar. Won't be going in again after several substandard pints over the last year. Trottertotheend must drink keg or have no taste buds

i have always found this pub to be very friendly and the locals are keen to make strangers welcome. i cannont remember having a bad pint of beer the landlord should be commended on keeping his beer in top condition. i think boltonblokle must have been to a different pub and got mixed up .

I don't think I've ever felt more uncomfortable in a pub, everyone stopped talking and glared at us when the walked in and continued to do so throughout our vist. Good beer, pleasent surrondings and friendly locals are just some of the things that aren't on offer here

True free house, but the cask ale can be hit and miss. I have not been in for a couple of months as I had a few sub standard pints. Best bet is to look what other people are drinking and buy that. If your drink is smooth/fizzy/nitrokeg ignore all above statements.
