Rose and Crown Sevenoaks, Sevenoaksback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Don't be fooled by the current low rating for this pub because it's now a Vintage Inn and much changed. Very welcoming staff, great beer selection and really good value food make it stand out as a really good pub, although I suspect some traditionalists won't agree because it's not run by some grumpy old landlord who only takes cash for food and drink!

I, too have been here since it opened as a Vintage Inn. Bearing in mind what it is, this is a very good example of its type and is well laid out BUT it all depends on whether the management can keep the present standards up. Our visit a few weeks ago was very pleasant and the food was hot and good for its type. Another Vintage Inn has opened up at Biggin Hill and was The Fox and Hounds but now known as The Aperfield Inn. This only opened up after Christmas and you might be interested to read my comments so far. I don't want the Rose and Crown to echo my findings there!

Pub has recently been re-opened and went here with family on a Sunday afternoon. Not cheap, but then you get what you pay for. The food was excellent and a choice of 3 real ales - tried one that I hadn't heard of before, and was very well kept. Think rating on this website reflect what it used to be like rather than what it's like now. 9/10.

Went in for Sunday dinner booked at 3pm, finally seated at 325 to be told they had run out of roast dinners! Food generally good although one meal was cold and the side dish turned up when the main was finished. I would suggest that the menu is a little overpriced for the portions that are delivered., lamb shank at 11.95 was probably worth 9.95. The pub itself has changed completely from my last visit and although light and airy seems to have lost its charm in favour of modernisation. I have visited this pub 6/7times over the last few years but doubt I would go back to be perfectly honest.

Wow I must have visited a different place to the review of 16th June.I was at The pub last weekend , the England game was sown outside on the pation with a bouncy castle and BBQ, the kids loved it and it really had a good family atmosphere. So I went again last night with a group of friends. The pub was very busy, as was the restaurant. There were families in the beer garden and the atmosphere was lovely. Even though it was busy the food was served and cooked exactly to how I would expect it and was presented well. The staff were very pleasant and accomadating.

What a disappointing place. Went for a birthday meal because of local press reports.Don't believe all you read! We were the only people in the restaurant(apart from the ants) which the owner put down to it being a Tuesday night.(not the ants) Food was not very well presented and some of the main course could not be eaten due to being over cooked. The staff did not seemed bothered about an unhappy customer and the owner even less bothered! When pubs are closing at an alarming rate, more effort could have been taken to "keep the customer satisfied". Will not be recommending as a place to go. Sorry.

For the last year we have visited a different pubs in the West Kent area each Tuesday evening and had some nice surprises and found some gems. Alas this pub was not one of them. The two bar staff couldn't muster a smile between them which should have been easy in a large pub with only ten customers. Part of the food order was for a cheese omelette and I asked if some onion could be put in it. I was told by one of the bar staff that she would check with the cook who is also the boss. Not a difficult request to carry out to keep the customer happy, the reply was "Yes" but only because she's in a good mood. The food was generally average at best but sent the sea bass back, smelly and off and covered in balsamic vinegar but no mention of that on the menu. One of my group wanted a cup of tea at the end of the meal but alas they don't have tea making facilites (hot water and a tea bag!) but could do coffee. In summary, the beer was good, got a refund on the sea bass without asking, staff unwelcoming and it seemed they were doing us a favour despite us spending over 100 in there. Will not go back and out of the last 50 plus pubs we've visted in the year this provided the poorest welcome/service and compared poorly. A better bet would have been the Harrow at Knockholt, about 5 minutes up the road with great food, decent beer and a great welcome.

This has been recently refurbished . They now have two areas to eat and a bar area where drinkers are still welcome . There is "a la carte" dining in the conservatory , pub grub in the main bar area and a decking area out in the beer garden . The landlady is always welcoming and goes out of her way to make sure your requirements are fulfilled . The food is well prepared and served by delightful local young ladies .
There is a good selection of beers , with Adnams Broadside , Harveys and Pride regulars plus good chilled lagers and a rather good wine selection .
The Sunday lunch is becoming more and more popular , book early to avoid dissappointment . There is a quiz on Wednesday evenings and occasional events , music , mystics (If not cancelled due to unforseen circumstances) or the latest is 40+ speed dating . In the age of pubs closing for good this place is a shining beacon of how a little effort , imagination and customer service can help win the day . Well worth a visit
