Perfectly decent, and popular, bar. All rounder. not fantastic food, not fantastic beer but pretty good and would appeal to most. Good value on the whole and also shows sport. Solid 7 (and a half really)

Oh dear, Bigdavie has really depressed me. Many years ago the Waterfront was a regular and favourite haunt of mine. Cosy rooms, good beer and good food, dim lighting. Simply perfect. I now live in London (which is just as well) so I have missed the "makeover". I visit Edinburgh occasionally (I am there for the rugby international this w/e) but I shall give this pub a miss and just remember it as it was. Why on earth do people ruin good pubs!

I really liked this place - the old waiting rooms for the Aberdeen steamer service! It's very compact and can get very busy due to the good beer and food and the general atmosphere. There are outside seating areas by the water and it's all very pleasant. Well worth seeking out and highly recommended.

The venue is divided between what I'd say is a high end restaurant and a pub. We frank and ate in the pub part.
Good selection of 4 ales, mostly local. The food was very good, most of the main dishes are served in mugs of varying sizes. A first for me, never having eaten out of a mug before. For our mains we had stovies and macaroni cheese. Proper hearty food which was very filing. Also had some of the nicest chips I've had, proper homemade. They had a good looking cheeseboard for desert but we had to much grub from the mug.
The patio and seating area looks ideal for the summer months. Plenty of buses will take you into the city centre in under 15 mins

This was known as the Waterfront Wine Bar until a disastrous "makeover" a couple of years ago.
It used to have lovely old wooden booths and tables and a couple of small
cosy backrooms . Highlight was the lengthy, reasonably priced winelist.
There is a dining area at the back.
A very popular bar, it was often packed out with no tables to be had.
But then somebody decided to "improve" it. Out went all the old oak booths, in came a large flatscreen TV blaring out, and tables and chairs which looked like they had come from IKEA. Out went the old winelist to be replaced by short bog standard pub winelist. My jaw dropped when I walked in !
Haven't been back !

This apparently is a former waiting room for passenger ships that docked at Leith with interesting photos round the wall and rooms at the rear serving food; also an outside area next to the old dock. There were several handpumps, the beer we had was Inveralmond Ossian which was excellent however the highest priced beer we had that week at �3.60!!
