Bay Horse, Yorkback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Nice-ish food at reasonable prices, excellent beer, great location, very nice staff, BUT, considering the stunning, beautiful exterior, the interior of this pub is dull, charmless and slightly sad. A lot of the original interior will have been removed long since I think, but the open interior now is just rather depressing. The carpet is ugly, the pictures on the wall are few and tasteless. This is *such* a shame for such a beautiful, noble building.

Been in here a few times since it re-opened a couple of years back. Aimed very much at the food market, but keeps a good pint too. Copper Dragon (Skipton) brews usually available and on good form at average prices for York. Pleasant walk along the river from Lendal Bridge, or through the Museum Gardens to this venue. Plenty of tables out front looking onto Marygate when the weather is decent. If you haven't been in here since pre-refit, then I suggest you do, as it has largely changed for the better. Gone are the bare floorboards, "Trainspotting-esque" toilets and dingy atmosphere, and in its place is a pub be-fitting of the area and the building. Not perfect, but on the right road. 8/10.

Only the second time I've been in here but I think it is a very decent pub.
Staff seem friendly, it is clean and serves a good pint of ale.
I had a nice pint of Pendle witch.

Had a fantastic Christmas lunch here this year - 7 courses! Food was amazing. Was also pleasantly surprised by how lovely the pub is inside and out - I was expecting more of an old man's pub. Decor is stylish and modern - but comfortable too. The staff were very friendly and efficient and not knowing the area, we were very glad we chose this pub for Christmas. I wish I had a local like this one.

Very friendly bar staff. One of the very few occasions when I've been offered a taste of an unknown beer before buying a pint. Served in dinky miniature pint glasses - a nice touch. Not too busy, beer good, didn't try the food.

Popped in here after York City v Bath City last Saturday.
Nice location opposite the museum gardens and 100 metres from ther river.

Loungey, comfortable pub just on the edge of the river with nothing particular distinctive apart from a very chatty, amiable barman and a discreet place for the large TV screen. The ales on offer were a little uninspiring but to be fair it seems that bad weather conditions had prevented delivery of more interesting local product. Will pop back again perhaps.

This pub has re-opened after being closed for many years. Have not been in but it looks O.K.
