Masons Arms, Wiganback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
The Masons Arms was my favourite pub of the day. It's only competition was the Wetherspoon's in Walkden. The ale range may not be as good. But for this area, it was still well above average - Harvest Pale, Hophead, Dizzy Blonde, Tribute & Cumberland Ale. There were also a couple of ciders - Old Rosie & Rosie's Pig. The pub has a real cosy feel. It's similar to a country pub. Locals were friendly and chatty, with attention drawn to the pub's coal fire. Recommended, but well out of the centre of Billinge.

Only pub really worth visiting in the area, a family run pub off the beaten track, doesn't attract any idiots and always an interesting selection of ales.

Wigan CAMRA's pub of the year for 2010 and richly deserved.! 5 hand pulled cask ales normally in superb condition, including LocAle from Geoprge Wright and/or Prospect. The pub has been lovingly restored over the past two years to reverse the modernisation during the 1960s during the Greenall Whitley era.
Its small cosy atmosphere is enhanced by wooden beams, a large collection of rugby league artefacts, whilst outside there's a beer garden overlooking countryside. Altough hidden away, well worth the effort to visit!

Stone-built pub 10 mins away from the main village down a country lane. It's pleasantly traditional, with 1 smallish room with distinct areas. Rugby-ana covers the walls and it's traditionally furnished and unspoilt throughout. The beer range is easily the best in the area, with the nationals complemented with local brewers such as George Wright and Brysons, with 6 beers usually on. My pint of Brysons was in top form. Heaving on a Saturday night-always good to see. This is the best pub in the area and is worth the walk out from the village. Try to head here if in the area.

In a semi-rural location between Billinge and Carr Mill, this pub is well worth a visit. Pleasant yet quirky interior, with a pronounced rugby league feel, it has benches to the front and a reasonably- sized beer garden at the back, overlooking fields. 5 real ales from lesser-known breweries, served in good condition. One to seek out, it's just off the beaten track.
