A very fine pub that has become a bit too popular for its own good. Now very difficult to have a peaceful drink in here as it's absolutely rammed seven days a week. Mostly with diners.

Their own beers are pretty good and well presented. Great decor in separate rooms. Many tables reserved for food on a Wednesday says it all about their food reputation. A bit MCP of me but I have to say that all of the ladies who work in here are very attractive and efficient. One of the best pubs I have been in for some time.

it was okay and had a reasonable ale here but had too much of a pubco/chain pub feel to it for my liking.

Great village pub, originally a coaching inn. Upto 8 local ales, all seemingly good.

Interesting collection of memorabilia including local maps and photos. Nice cobbled garden at the rear as well. Would recommend.

Excellent pub with eight beers on tap, three being their own brew. Didn't eat here, but sorely tempted by the menu and food that comes out of the kitchen. Almost more staff than customers, so service is superb. Rammed with people eating on a Monday evening, which says a lot for this pub. I will be back!

No-one has yet said that this absolute gem of a pub also brews its own beer (Burscough Brewery), of which Mere Gold is one, and is indeed delicious. I also sampled Nettle Thrasher and a Burton Bridge ale, which were also superb. Despite the fact that the pub was heaving they still found me a table for 1 without a booking! I had two courses, the first of which was very tender Kashmiri Lamb followed by Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding. This place cannot be improved upon. Visited 8th September, 2012. Stayed locally for Southport Airshow.

Found this pub as i was in burscough for the football. An excellent pub, very clean, staff attentative and friendly, good selection of real ales (6) and in very good condition. I didnt have anything to eat but the food being served looked good. Highly reccommended.

Comprehensively done up last month and reopened as the Hop Vine. It's large and contemporary with several distinct drinking areas, although i's really just one large L-shaped room and a raised lounge. It's smartly done out and was heaving on my visit, a range of traditional seating and modern furniture, and barrels to stand around. A good range of beers from mostly Lancashire breweries- Pendle Witch's Brew, Landlord, Phoenix Humbug, Thwaites Good Elf and the house beer Hop Vine (produced by Prospect of Standish). The House beer was light and quaffable, and a snip at 1.75. It's not particularly traditional but is now the best pub in Burscough centre for beer by some way. Hope to pop in again.
