Visited here on a recent sunny weekend with the family. It was very busy, with a queue to get in the car park, but stewards were giving out flyers with details of alternative parking. We decided to wait as there were only a couple of cars in front of us, and we didn't have to wait too long.
This is clearly a food focussed establishment but is perhaps one of the smartest Robinsons pubs I have been in.
At the bar, 5 pumps, of which 4 were on, offering Bonj Euros, Trooper, Unicorn and Dizzy Blonde. Went for the Bonj Euros as it was the only one I have not had before - presumably a special for the football season that was still ongoing at the time. Ale was served in plastic glasses but not the cheap wobbly disposable type, so not too bad, and understandable with there being so many people outside and it being family friendly.
Word of warning - the car park is pay and display. You used to get this money back when you bought something at the bar, but not any more. We only went for a drink and spent longer in there than we expected, so if you're going for food during busy periods, make sure you put enough money in the meter.

Popped in for a cheeky one and totally changed since the last time I came in. More of a diner/restaurant these days. Nevertheless had a pint of Robinsons 'Trooper' which was well kept and the place had a good atmosphere.

Called here on Spring Bank holiday Monday after hearing about it from friends. Firstly, it's not really my type of pub - large beer garden full of kids, bouncy castle, afternoon DJ etc. However, I thoroughly enjoyed myself here. The beer was good (and not overpriced) and the staff were friendly and attentive, especially the car park attendant. But we went to watch the planes, and they didn't let us down. A fantastic experience and I'll definatey be going again, though maybe on a quieter day. I have no kids, but if I had I'd bring them here every week, they would love it!

Good for watching planes but nothing else. Beer is very over priced and the surroundings are what you would expect to find on a very rough council estate. The food served here is expensive for what you get and is barely edible. If you like watching planes just buy one drink as most of the parking charge is refunded if you do this.

You have to pay to park in the pub car park.
The beer is over-priced*.
You have to mingle with the dregs of society - they have bouncers and high beer prices* to try and control them.
It is nice to watch the planes though and sometimes the plane spotters will let you listen to their radios.
If it wasn't for the aircraft viewing area, this pub would be one of those featured on a 'Britain's roughest pubs' type TV show.

this pub is really great for anyone wishing to see planes taking off and landing. My 2 year old son loves it. Can I just ask if anyone found a digital camera there on Tuesday 18th July 2006 could they please contact me

Not really a fan of taking kids to pubs, but if you must, this is ideal. The biggest beer garden I`ve ever seen, with bouncy castle etc.in summer, and no way for them to escape except though the pub. Also they don`t let them in the main pub so it`s not too bad if your not with kids either.

Not been to this pub, but when I have flown from here, the beer garden almost seems to be on the edge of the taxiway. For Kids this must seem great. Beer garden always got kids in due to play area. But if, like me, you love flying & planes this must be a great pub

Plesant pub for families and Plane spotters. the real locals go in the Vault, pool table & TV for football. more City than United

What a fantastic location for a pub, my daughter was well impressed with the beer garden and play facilities they have there, add to this the enjoyment she got from watching the planes coming into land, well it really was an enjoyable afternoon.

Scruffy council estate pub. Back 'garden' is tatty but has some picnic tables you can stand on for better view over the chain link. The best location you'll find for viewing aircraft as they queue and turn onto runway 24 in front of you. Has a car park too.
