Called in for a welcome pint on beautiful cycle from Margate to Whitstable.

This pub proved the perfect place to stop off for lunch on a short walk along from Herne Bay. We enjoyed some well cooked and tasty food at amazingly cheap prices, such as a large plate of liver & bacon, mash and veg for £4.95 - wow! Only downside perhaps is the décor is rather old fashioned and could do with modernising but we suspect it's that way for the predominately older patrons here.

Pleasant enough location next to the reculver Towers. A number of people were eating and a few locals were in. the Yellowsomething or other ale I had was just about okay but didn't fancy another.

Visited on a warm sunny summer's day and had a pleasant lunch on the decked terrace. Three beers available. Adnam's Explorer, Wantsum More and one other I did not try. Worth a visit.

Our group of Ramblers from Surrey visited this pub for a "quick" drink stop on our walk from Birchington to Herne Bay. Although they had quite a few diners and locals in, they coped admirably with our order for 33 drinks, 21 of which were pints of Rosey Nosey ale from Hardy & Hansons. The staff didn't even seem put out either, which can happen in some pubs with a group of walkers. So well done to them and maybe it'll get in the GBG sometime.

Last October we drove to Reculver, unloaded our bikes then rode along the sea wall to Maragte and back. There was also a massive sponsored cycling event at the same time. We reached the pub about 3pm and they were rushed off their feet doing food. From memory we drunk Gadd's which was excellent and the meal was really good too, especially as they were so busy.
