The Boot is a Grade II listed 18th century freehouse located directly opposite the village green in the quaint Hertfordshire village of Sarratt. Although, like the other pubs in the village, it has a bit of a focus on food, it does retain more of a traditional village pub feel that say the Cricketers up the road and has a cosy main bar area with horse-brasses adorning low beams and a large brick fireplace to the right of the main entrance which has real fire during winter months. Then to the back of the main bar there is a separate dining area which retains the traditional beams. There is a small patio seating section to the front of the pub, which is separated from the main road by bushes and a couple of trees. And then outback there is a garden with a children’s play area. And the pub benefits from a large car park to the side. This free house offers four Ales with a couple of regular changing local brewery option and on my visit Adnams Broadside, GK IPA were complemented by Buntingford Brewery Highwayman and Vale Brewery Helios and both the Highwayman and Helios were well kept pints.

popped in on Sat afternoon to relax after fighting with the Watford traffic. After a nice couple of pints of Sunstar I felt a lot better. There were 4 real ales on at the time. My wife was driving and she fancied a cup of tea which was served without an issue. Menu looked comprehensive and we'll give it a go sometime in the future.

Really super pub, wish it was my local!! 16 of us had lovely room to ourselves for a birthday dinner. Food was very, very good, service charming and efficient. All 16 of us served at the same time, food and plates hot. Obvious that the Management really care about their customers. Look forward to visiting/dining at The Boot again very soon.

Great little pub on the green in a quintessentially english village. Nice buzz to the place very friendly. Very small but appears to have a large garden for the summer. Beer in excellent condition. Friends in the village consider it to be the best pub in the village now it has new management.

Posted by my Wife. We had our annual Christmas lunch at The Boot last Friday, a party of 7 very fussy ladies some of whom will complain about the slightest little thing.
All were silence apart from praise for the food, service and atmosphere. When we left the other 6 all thanked me for organising the lunch and what a great meal it had been plus many more comments.

A suggestion to BITE, this establishment is so improved that the ratings before November 2010 are now of no consequence and are somewhat detrimental to what Nick and Zoe have achieved and like the earlier postings should be removed with the ratings allowed a fresh start from December 1st 2010. Before anyone asks or thinks, my only connection with The Boot is as a satisfied customer who always votes with his feet and is not afraid to tell any management if they are rubbish and offering a poor service and/or food. Phil.

Having re-opened as a proper Pub in October 2010 after a disastrous few years when the locals were banned if they dared to comment on the very poor service and even poorer food and cleanliness. The Boot under Zoe and Nick the Chef has jumped forward on all fronts. Zoe's bar staff are all without exception attentive, helpful and efficient creating the right atmosphere for the excellent FRESH food from Nick's kitchen where "boil in the bag" rubbish has no place and he is one of the few people in a pub kitchen who is worthy of the title CHEF.
The beer offerred is always in excellent condition and the wine selection is interesting and good.
My wife and I are more than happy to drive the 12 miles each way for a good well cooked meal that is compatible with Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir delights.
