And a month later it's open got business again! The freehold appears to be for sale.

Very sad, this pub is now closed and boarded up.
|
Times are changing!
The pub now also has a happy hour all night Sat. It has a pub quiz every other Wednesday and live music on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month.
|
The pub is definitely re-open and refurbished inside.
Can be quiet during the week but is usually busy on Fridays. It's started to open on a weekend now too. It's under new management now; I'm a bit of a regular but really like the new atmosphere. Not the cheapest pub around but not the most expensive.
The new landlady has started doing a 'happy hour' 5-7 weeknights and 7pm - close on a weekend with 50p off pints and house doubles & mixer for 2.50.
there you go. Give it a go if you're in the area.

Or was it London Prude? Forgive the typo!
|
Yes, re-opened a few months ago. Usually quiet in the evening, apart from the jukebox! Had an average pint of London Prode.

Walked past on afternoon of 3 December: definitely open again
|
Currently closed and painted all over black. I hope that's not the shade of things to come!

One wouldn't come here for a wide range of ales, though in this instance this isn't a dealbreaker for me - a good little back street boozer which I fully recommend.
|
Only came in here after walking past it hundreds of times because the nearby Britannia is shut for redecoration. Nice, proper Boozer- in a 70's time warp. great.

I could imagine Jack Reagan chatting to an ex-girlfirend come stripper here. I like this place
|
I like this place a lot. Apart from the mirrors with Budweiser logos on them, this is a pub straight out of the 70s. Only one beer - Courage Best - but it was a decent drop. Great place to go with mates for a sit down and quiet evening chatting.

A small narrow pub living about 30 years ago by my estimation. It's in the middle of an estate at the back of Guys so has two nearby sources of patronage. The evening I was in the bar was sparsely populated and one can only hope that things pick up when there is football or something similar to attract people. There probably are not many pubs left like this in Inner London and it would be nice to think it will still be the same in 30 years time.

This is an unpretentious backstreet boozer of the type that I really like. Furniture consists entirely of stools and banquette seating with normal, and clean, uncluttered tables. There were three handpumps on the bar one with a clip turned round; one apparently not in use; and the other dispensing Courage Best. There really is nothing special about this pub, which in some perverse way is what makes it exceptional. With a couple of really decent ales this would be an absolute winner for anyone who appreciates the traditional boozer, but lack of beer choice is a great disincentive to visit in my book.
