Despite being quite late at night, I was expecting this Wetherspoon's to be much busier. With a nearby cocktail bar reportedly testing customers for the coronavirus, this wasn't a normal Saturday evening though. I had my choice of seating in here. Greene King Abbot, Ruddles Best & Sharp's Doom Bar were supplemented by Skinner's Betty Stogs, Porthleven & Lushington's, as well as Ringwood Boon Doggle. Ciders were Weston's Old Rosie, Gwynt y Ddraig Black Dragon & Cornwall Cider Company Apple Slayer. Nice to enjoy a quieter drink in a 'spoon' than normal.

Pretty awful spoons to be honest.
Always totally rammed with not many good seating areas.
Service was poor too and had only one guest ale on.
I swore we would never be back but on visiting the other rip off joints in Truro we did return with our tails between our legs....

As usual: this place was chock-a-block. service was ok, as staff was rushing of there feet. Why do I always visit this place when it's Curry Club?

Hard to believe, but excellent service in a Wetherspoons. Brilliant bar staff, excellent beer (Skinners Hunny Bunnty was amazing), and usual JDW food. Could not fault it.
|
Unlike the last reviewer, I found the service was good, for a Wetherspoons, but that still isn't saying much. Beer choice a little strange (seemed to be mostly from Scotland ... why ?) but food OK, and came when they said it would.

The slowest service I have ever encountered at a Wetherspoon and having visited 400+ that's saying something, the beer was ok but after waiting nearly 25min for it on a sat lunchtime i wasnt impressed! 5/10

On todays visit the ale was in top condition and served with a smile and attention. Tis lady is a credit to the house and herself. You dont get this kind of welcome in there London pubs.

Easily the worst place to eat in Truro. Had fish and chips and it was insipid - unedibel. Unfortunately, I couldn't complain as it was so cheap. Only ever eat in the One Eyed Cat or Bustophers now.

First time I have been in this Spoons pub to find a variety of beers available. Thwaites Golden Wunder, Rudgate Ruby Mild and Bateman Combine Harvester among the usual suspects. Good clean loos too at this one, plus helpful friendly staff made me wonder if it was the same pub I had been in earlier this year. Well done.

Found this to be a typical "spoons" pub with a poor selection of guests on top of the usual suspects. Had the Skinners Hunny Bunny and it was OK. Other guests had coming soon on. Must have the same policy as another spoons I was in where they told me they only put one guest at a time on.

Not bad at all. service was really good, the staff very friendly, and the beer range was pretty good, as long as you like Skinners. The Blond and Ginger Tosser were excellent (That's beers, not a badly matched couple). At least it was not just Doom Bar or Tribute as offered in so many of the local pubs.

This large Wetherspoons (actually its a Lloyds No 1 but what the heck) is named after the old Cornish words meaning Three Rivers and are situated in old newspaper buildings. The huge interior has a low false ceiling which, despite the massive amount of open plan floor space, makes it all feel a bit closed in. It could very easily be a rather drab place but good use of colour schemes mixed in with exposed brickwork, bookcases and underplayed modern art does actually make the place quite pleasing on the eye. 3 silent plasma screens show the usual run of subtitled Sky News programmes. Service (both food and the bar) was pretty good given that the place was extremely busy although the choice of ales was very disappointing with just the standard Spoons ales supplemented with the ubiquitous Doom Bar across the 10 pumps. Prices were towards the top end of the chains pricing policy. Probably slightly more appealing than the average modern style Spoons but let down big time for me by the beer selection although it may just have been a bad day in the office and Id like to think the selection is generally more imaginative.

As far as Spoons go, this is one of their nicer ones. A classic cavernous interior which nonetheless feels a bit more homely than the usual which is also set in the nice surroundings of Lemon Quay.
Usual Spoons ales, plus three decent guests which were in good nick. Prices were at the higher end of the Spoons spectrum, Truro must be posher than I thought.
There's plenty of history dotted around the walls and the place is nicely lit. Main gripe was that old dishes and food condiments weren't cleared away. Tut tut.
Not bad at all, worth a stop for a decent beer outside of Friday/Saturday nights I'd wager.
