Now The Chitern Taps - another Wetherspoons takeover by Stonegate.

There's not much to chose between the two Wetherspoons in High Wycombe. But I think this is marginally the worst. This one is just outside the centre on the A40. As you can see from the picture above, it's called the William Robert Loosley as opposed to Robert William. Greene KIng Abbot is the permanent ale and they had 4 guests - Binghams Sussex Extra Pale Ale, Sharps Doom Bar, Eagle Air Reet & Loddon Forbury Lion. But 5 ales is a poor selection by Wetherspoons standards. There was no real cider either. The two bar staff didn't seem too keen to want to serve, despite stood chatting at the end of the bar. There are much better pubs in High Wycombe.

Can anybody out there tell me how many floors this pub has and whether or not it is near a bus station or, indeed, a Sainsbury's ? Thank you.

Popped in for a late lunch pint. Place is comfortable enough but clientele can be interesting. Had a pint of Russian Imperial Stout from an un-pronouncable Russian Brewery and it was good.

Excellent pub on 2 levels doing a good choice of ales - sometimes it's better to go straight upstairs to avoid any queue's plus the beer choice is usually different. Last night there were 3 Vale beers on the ground floor & upstairs a Loddon & a Vale beer available - all were in good nick & under 2/pint. Prefer to the decor to the JDW Falcon. About 50 metres from the bus station.

Wetherspoon's de-luxe! What you see is what you get, the only real criticism is that for the size of the place it does appear to be hugely understaffed. That said, all the staff are friendly and attentive. A good place to meet up for a fair value breakfast if planning a day out with friends, as the the bus station more or less across the road and the railway station about 10 mins walk away.

Went in one cold Monday lunchtime in December. Had a large coffee for 90p. Fantastic ! I know why they call it "God's waiting room" but great value and large comfortable pub.

Standard Wetherspoons/LLoyds opposite the Eden Centre (and bus station). My pint of Vale Brewery beer was very good and well priced at 1.95.

A Lloyds number 1, not bad. Remember there are 2 bars, a downstairs and an upstairs, Wycombe was a centre of chair manufacture and this fact is celebrated by the pub. Does what it says on the tin, cheap food, 1.75 for some quite well kept real ale and a struggle to get served despite some hard-working staff. The bar man was friendly, knowledgable about real ale and a self confessed 'beer snob', the pub that he drinks in his own free time? The Bootleggers!

A nice clean, cheap pub. Service was friendly, if a little slow on my visit as only one member of bar staff was present. Overall, though, a pleasant experience!

Great pub, busy downstairs and up with good atmosphere in both. Very clean and smart interior, with cheap drink and food. Favourite pub in wycombe, recommend to everyone!

Not bad for Wycombe. Clean, cheap food, good beer when i was there. No atmosphere but a 50% improvement on the other run down shitholes in town.

|
