PLATFORM Number 11?

Renamed again - now PLATFORM

Now called The Colonnade. Bit of a strange pub, the Doom Bar and Greene King IPA were both in excellent condition, but the overall feel of the pub is of general dingyness and grubbiness.

This was one of the first true pubs in Letchworth, which was founded along Quaker values and was something of a 'dry town' until as late as the 1990's. The Arena Tavern opened in the early 90's and then the Hog's Head. When it first opened, it was a nice friendly place with good ale and food. Now its rather like any chain pub. Not exactly bad but not exactly good either.

Last time I went there I felt old! seems to draw a very young crowd this place. lived in Letchworth for 21 years and I have to say Letchworth is a crap place to go out drinking! this place has done nothing to improve the drinking image of Letchowrth Garden City!

This was a half decent boozer in the first few years of its existence. I remember the manager politely informing a customer that it was an "ale house" when he was asked for an alcopop. Unfortunately times have changed and there is now only one real ale amongst a host of lagers and yes ... alcopops. It also had a nice atmosphere with a good range of ages and different "types" but this too has changed for the worse. Not intimidating but certainly not as relaxed as it was. It is a shame it has gradually succumbed to the mass market.

Letchworth's vertical drinking establishment. The food is low quality chain pub grub. Suffers from poor service.
|
warm lager in a dirty glass with surly service probably best avoided good location tho
|
Letchworth is probably the worst town to go out in Britain as there are so few pubs.
This pub does nothing to enhance Letchworth but is handily near the train station so you can travel to a town with a decent choice of drinking holes.
|
Good and food and service during the day. Great place for a weekday lunchime. But gets too crowded on Friday/Saturday evenings when the service is awful. Best to avoid during football matches.
|
Some nice beers(but expensive), terrible music, more tv screens than wallspace (but ok for watching football), fancies itself as more than it actually is. Has a pool table which is a rarity in LGC, but its pricey. Had some good nights there, and plenty of crap ones listening to dodgy r&b.
|
Ok pub but i find it full of rude people and the servic eis very very slow.

Decent range of beers available but service is very slow. Lively on a weekend but don't see that as a bad thing.

i'v recently been visiting Hogshead, Letchworth and have found it to be a nice friendly pub. A clean and well layed out pub, bar staff are all really friendly my personal favourite is a young lad called Richard always smiling. Fri and Sat nights to tend to be a little to rammed for my liken but still a good atmosphere. The regulars during the week are also extremely welcoming. All in all a good pub!

The hogshead used to be the best of a bad bunch of pubs in Letchworth town centre, but since the refit and the closure of the Littern Tree, this place has gone downhill a lot. The barstaff are friendly but the place is always full of idiots. Its a shame as now there really is no reason to go out drinking in Letchworth town
|
This place has gone downhill bigtime. The refit has been a disaster, seeing as more zitty clueless youngsters now frequent this place. Since the Litten Tree closed, all the townies now go to the Hogshead.....such a shame......
Best to aviod Friday and Saturday nights at this pub

A bog standard, but seemingly very popular Hogshead. Does the job - Food is pretty good, and they show the footy.

Good pub, especially in the summer when the doors are open.
Staff are friendly, and they serve Hoegaarden, which is never a bad thing.

Recently been done up to match other Hogsheads and now has Sky Sports and a pool table. Nice in the summer evenings as the doors get opened out and everyone sits on tables outside. Definitely most popular and nicest pub in terms of atmosphere in Letchworth town centre.

Part of the Chain. Similar to all the others. Generally a nice pub with many guest beers available.
