Molly Malones, Colchesterback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
This pub has once again changed name, back to Molly Malones, and with new management has picked up trade considerably. Whilst this pub did once have a reputation for being unwelcoming and was generally populated by people who seemed more interested in fighting other customers then talking to them, things have now changed for the better.
There is a good selection of beers, wines and spirits. Real ales are provided by the bottle (think Bishops Finger/Newcastle brown etc) rather then real ales from micro breweries or casked ciders. There are plenty of Euro and US lagers including Coors on tap. If you want a wide selection of real ales and casked ciders, then the Fat Cat on Butt Road or the Ode One Out on Mersea road would suit better. If you want a more lively, yet independently run boozer close to town where you can let your hair down and be a bit wilder then this suits to a T.
They are doing a variety of music at the weekend now, both djs and bands can be accomodated.
Simple food (hotdogs/cheeseburgers) are on offer as well for the peckish punter.
Service was efficient, quick and friendly.

oh my god whats happened to mollys??? you go away for a year and when you get back, bursting for a decent pint and a good friday night out, what do you find? the place has been PINKED up... where are Mal, Hazel, Simon and rob?? its full of screamers now, no music, no atmosphere, no barstaff to speak of, everyone the previous management had trawled out have come back, and who's the trout that runs it?? she took my mates passport when he booked a room, then next morning when he needed to leave for a holiday flight she'd F**ked off with the keys and couldnt be contacted.. the place is a joke. Ive rated it 0 but only cos it dont go down to -10.

This is our new favourite pub in Colchester.. its got a bit of something for everyone... Very relaxed atmosphere, new management, definately worth a look, specially on a Saturday night for the live band

This is a great pub... its under new management, so if you haven't been in here for a while its definately worth a look. We were on our way to somewhere else, and just popped in for a quick drink..but had such a good time we ended up staying til they closed. Its relaxed and friendly, and the live music's back on Saturday nights!!

Used to be ok for a swift Guinness before getting the train. It is now a truly dreadful establishment. Last time I was here the bar maid baited a customer who was worse for drink into losing his temper and then called the police to throw him out.
