Another great Easton pub. Very cosy, sofas etc. Impressive selection of gin and good beer choice. Got a very friendly vibe about the place. Go there.

excellent large pub just seconds away from stapleton road station, four ales on offer included otter ale, cotswold spring codrington old codger, and goffs lamorak (which was lovely and just 2.95 pint) superb beer garden at rear,7/10

Good size pub conveniently located right next to the railway station. Smallish bar off to the left with some comfy red velvet seating and a larger bar off to the right with a fruit machine, quiz machine, etc. and another room behind that with a pool table. There are a couple of tables out the front to sit and watch the world go by, although unfortunately I didnt realise they had a garden so didnt try that. Friendly locals.
Beers on this occasion were Doom Bar, Codrington Codger and Brains Rev. James. Cider is where this pub seems to shine though, with Addlestones, Thatchers Gold, Blackthorn, Thatchers Dry, Black Rat and Cheddar Valley. There was even Thatchers Gold Slush think Slush Puppy, but made with cider! Very pleasant on a warm summers evening.

I have been using this pub for about 5 months and i have impressed with how tidy it is compared to some in the area. well kept beers and the newly decked garden is amazing. you should make a point of having a beer in there when you are in Easton, you won't be disappointed.

Re: Free Tap Water...
The DO have to supply Tap Water if requested. Have a word with the City Council Licensing Office who will tell you that they SHOULD be displaying a notice "Free tap water available on request". Pub over Briz way had a visit and got ticked off for it.

Went here after a visit to the Cotham Porter Store. Nice Thatchers and right next to Stapleton Road station.

I moved to Bristol just after Christmas from London and spent a couple of weeks sizing up the pubs in the my new area (Easton). I tried the Sugar Loaf near the end of my wanderings and thank god there is a pub like that in Easton. A few pubs i tried left me feeling very uneasy about just being in them, but although sometimes the Sugar Loaf has quite a colourful variety of punters you feel safe in there because everyone gets on with each other.
Anyway, the beers are good, 3 ales, 9 ciders (with another being added soon) and 3 lagers if you like that kind of thing. I was told the garden was opening in a few weeks and from what i've seen through the doors in the pool room it looks pretty good, lets hope this summer is not a wash out.
As for the last comment, do you go to an off licence buy 6 cans of lager and ask them for free water?. Yes it does get busy and glasses do back up from time to time, but they must be doing something right to be that busy.

Despite buying large rounds of alcoholic drinks and spending a lot of money in this pub, the bar staff refused to give us free tap water. They insist that they have no legal obligation and told us we had to buy bottled water from them.
The bar staff are also sloppy and don't know how to make drinks. No ice or lemon, they just let empties pile up on the bar. All very poor
Very dissapointed as the garden is nice and gets some sun, they have a duke box and pool tables but I refuse to give my money to a landlord like that. Even the staff don't have balls enough to stick to their principles.
They won't be taking any of my money until the landlord changes at which point I will make it my local.

Used to drink in here a long time ago.
Sounds about the same, if the reviews are anything to go by.
If The Farm at St Werburghs was Glastonbury, then this place was 'beanfield' era Stonehenge.
Not everyone, obviously.
Is Duncan still the landlord?

Moved to the area 6 months ago, and this is my favourite pub. Some friendly locals (if sometimes a bit on the alternative side). Great Jukebox and good beer. The Easton Ale is brewed especially for the pub, and is well worth a try.
The best thing about it, is that you can amble over after a meal at one of St Mark's restaurants.

A very good pub, with a great mix of people. no longer serving cooked food, but still has a great line up of ales and ciders. well worth a visit if shopping or eating on St. Marks r.d

Great beer, secluded beer garden, a bit noisy inside.

Good pub with good beers, Easton beer is well nice, always manage to spend as much on the duke box as the beer!

first choice when drinking locally. lunch time grub is well priced, with plenty on the plate. book well in advance for a sunday lunch. easton ale brewed exclusively for the pub. two other real ales available. always relaxed. sometimes odd! no kids.

Interesting pub, full of locals that looked like characters from Viz. Only stayed for one pint as it was very smokey and the Sca/2 Tone DJ was very loud. Could be a nice day time pub due to the pool tables and good range of ale.

very good pub.you can meet lots of nice but strange people here. The Easton Ale is the cheapest one and tastes very good. So go in and have a try!!!

Quite a lively pub, a little on the dingy side, with 3 beers on handpump. Try the EASTON ALE if you can get it. A varied jukebox, and occasional live music staged in the pub.
