A must for any self-respecting pub lover. Exactly the same as when first reviewed on this site and hopefully no changes in the foreseeable future. The TT Landlord was in superb condition for £3.30 (TT Golden Best also still on sale) and there is no lager here! John the licensee is 86 years old tomorrow and was not feeling so well today but his daughter was running things smoothly. Opens at 6pm so time your visit wisely.

I can confirm that the pub is still open and with John still running the pub. Landlord was being served. Well worth visiting if your in the area.

The most marvelous pub I have ever been to. Fantastic beer and great conversation. The pub consists of a tiny room where all the punters, locals, farmers and visitors sit around and talk, moderated by the pleasant landlord John. No chance of any privacy, so join in and enjoy yourself. Also a beer garden when there is good weather in the summer.

I haven't been to this pub in a couple of years but, if you're in the area, you must visit this absolute gem it is a disappearing species. The old boy (yes, he is the owner) keeps his ale in the best condition I have ever seen, racks it up a full 2WEEKS before putting on for sale. Please go and visit to make sure they stay in business, when he retires I can't see too many people queueing up to take it over, there can't be much money to be made unfortunately. I will be going to the area in September so will give a more up to date report.

The best new pub I have visited for 5 months. The interior of this place is pretty unique. Entering is like stepping into a timewharp. There are 2 separate rooms. Although most people congregate in the main bar with its one table, two benches, a window seat and a chair near the roaring fire. There is no bar as such. Beer is dispensed from 2 handpulls in the corner by a rather old gentleman, who I assumed to be the owner. Taylor Landlord and Golden Best were the two real ales available. Olde English cider was available poured from bottles. Bottles of London Pride were also available. The spirit selection was extremely limited. If you don't want to engage in conversation, don't come here! You will be dragged into the room's single conversation immediately. The room is so cramped that you have little choice. However the locals are extremely friendly and welcome visitors wholeheartedly.The second room was particularly sparse, but did have a few more seats. Long may this pub continue in its present form. Pubs like this are really thin on the ground nowadays. So I just hope that nobody comes along and spoils it. Beware the extremely limited opening hours.
