Had a very acceptable pint of Timothy Taylors 'Boltmaker' here last night, served by a chatty barman. There was only one other ale available. I seem to remember there was a much larger selection a few years ago. There was a 'toilet' smell throughout the whole bar.

Bier was disappointing again on our Saturday visit. I had read that it had changed hands. But if it has, it's probably for the worse. Only 2 ales were on - Deuchars & The Dog's Bollo*ks. It was busy. But then most pubs and bars in this area are packed on a Saturday night. There are plenty of better pubs nearby.

Last night was my first visit to Bier. I met 6 mates in there.
I had a pint of Roosters 'Yankee' which was really nice. A couple of the others had a pint of Ringwood 'Boondoggle which they said was fine. Another tried Moorhouses 'Pride of Pendle'.
The rest were lager swillers.
Everyone agreed that it was a good bar except for the heat. It was sweltering.

first visit here last friday 3/2/12 since it changed over, very nice inside and good quality beers available, dont mind paying a bit extra for quality.

Yesterday was my first visit to Bier. 5 cask ales were on - Ringwood Boondoggle, Moorhouses Pride of Pendle, Taylor Landlord, Greene King Abbot Ale & Roosters Yankee. Cider was Addlestones. There is a good bottled beer selection. I found the interior a little cold. The tiling may appeal to some. But it did make the place feel a little more like a butchers than a pub. I can now at least say I've tried it. But after a swift half, I returned to the Dispensary.

Now renamed as "Bier" the owners have also taken over the Dovedale Towers on Penny Lane.

Interior completely refurbished with new tables, chairs, wooden floors, nice grey/green paint job, flatscreen TV showing the footy.

Have been here twice now - first time had a pint of Ringwood Boondog; second visit had a pint of Mersey Cider (more like a proper scrumpy!). Both pints cost 3.20 (I think!)

Also a wide range of Belgian and other foreign bottled beers.

Can't really rate this as "Bier" needs a new entry on this site.

Walked past a couple of weeks ago and this place had re-opened, so I popped in after work yesterday.

Apart from the barman there where 2 other people stood at the bar drinking, and they both seemed to be friends of the barman.

I had a quick pint of Strongbow (no real ales here) and left!

This could be a good pub, but whoever owns it doesn't appear to have any ambition! The Dispensary is around the corner so why bother with this place!?

Went here a couple of times end of March, beginning of April expecting the worst but was pleasantly surprised. No ales, just the usual bog standard Fosters, Guinness etc. Interior is well kept, landlady is nice and they had the footy on TV.

But - I've walked past a few times over the past couple of weeks at different times and on different days and the shutters have been down! Shame, because I was starting to get to like this pub.

Went past again last night and it was open but not for long, two hours later at 10:30 it was shut. Looks like it may open Thurs-Sun.

The lights are on but there's nobody home. It certainly looks like this pub has shut, every time I pass the steel shutters aire down but the outside lights are on. In fact I don't think I've ever seen it open.
