back in business but called Corleones
|
Sadly closed and up for rent. Real shame - I had many a fantastic meal here.
|
I went to this bar a few weeks back. seemed ok. Good excellent. But then there was a drunk, drugged up guy (local) who tried to knife me. YES tried to knife me. Owner tried to stop me calling the police. It got all messy.
I'm a business man visiting London & didnt expect this from what seemd like an ok bar. Over all. good food-dangerous local drinkers. Do not like outsiders.
|
Had a great meal here last week in the evening - great place and the new management seem to be doing a great job. Loved the Pinot Grigio Blush - very tasty and went very well with my pizza and salad!
Great staff, even though they screwed up the ordering of one of our party but they were super apologetic about it, dealt with it swiftly and provided a complimentary glass of wine.
Thoroughly recommended, was busy too for a Wednesday evening only a couple of tables free!
|
Cracking place. The new(ish) owner, Vince, made it his personal mission to get to know me and my girlfriend, as we are local and he knew we'd come back- and we did. The pizza is excellent, the cocktails are strong and the quotes in the gents toilets are funny.
recommend a calzone and a pint.
8 on 10
|
Gotta be honest - this bar rules. Its a shame the entrance is small enough to miss but the staff are lovely and the service spot on.
The food is ok, the pasta was nothig to write home about but all in all it was good enough for 3 visits in 2 weeks! Just wish it was open later!
|
They tried to make me go to Rehab and I said...yes, yes, yes. Great place. 8/10
|
Big fan of this lovely venue. Looks tiny from the outside but is in "reality" a tardis! The pizzas are absolutely magnificent and the staff are efficient and friendly. A lovely place will be going back regularly!
|
now open on sundays.... bonus!!!
|
Great little find and great atmosphere. Went in there to eat but only had a drink in the end, though the food looked fine we found it a little off putting with the chef not waring a hat, constantly scratching his face and serving with a matchstick protruding from his mouth.Friendly place though.

Great pizzas, always really friendly and good surroundings.Needs good local support to keep this place!!
|
I see theyve applied for a license to open early in the morning I think from about 7am. Looks like it could be straying into the caf/coffee bar market too, which would be good as that is something that C Wood doesnt really have to a suitable level.
anonymous - 26 Mar 2007 12:40 |
Still my favourite place for a pint of lager in Colliers Wood. Friendly staff, nice wine, good pictures on the wall...and the pizza aint bad either!
|
there has been the same chef in there for 6 months now?? he does the best calzone i have ever had. my girlfriends pasta was excellent. was in there last monday and they were busy. was also in there before christmas and every table was taken. not as busy as it used to be. nothing abit of shameless marketing cant sort out. cant beleive that people still dont know about this place.
anonymous - 9 Jan 2007 17:28 |
Hmmm, used to be a great place, always empty now and a new chef everytime you go there! I still pop in now and then but its lost its appeal somewhat,my pizza was awful but the beer {Amstel} the only choice, was fine.
anonymous - 8 Jan 2007 23:21 |
The best pint in colliers wood, come on! there is, if i recall, one beer, Amstel, served at minus 23 C so that even my girlfriend didn't enjoy it!!
Having said that, this is a decent little pizza pasta restuarant with some very pleasant service. The food is quite simple but good. They get a good mix of customers in but i have never been there late doors so can't comment on that. It is primarily a restaurant with a small bar at the far end. I wouldn't recommend it as a drinking place but found plenty to praise it for otherwise.
May i stress - not a pub!!
|
Rehab is the greatest. It's so cool, it's really reasonable, the service is alwayas with a smile and the food is great. Also the best pint of beer you can get in the Wood. I love the fact somewhere like this is in my manor. Rockin, keep up the good work boys

Are you an estate agent? Why are you so keen to 'kick the locals out'? And why do you want to make Colliers Wood the new Balham / Clapham? By that do you mean over priced and crowded?
rinky - 29 Nov 2006 13:57 |
why is this place on here? it is a restaurant. serves tasty, basic, good value pizza and pasta with a few specials. isn't that just what the area requires whether there are "professionals" or not?
anonymous - 28 Nov 2006 14:59 |
I went here once and the food was rubbish. It was even cold! Tried to get near the bar but there was a load of people in the way - not talking and just staring at people, looking very bored.
Heard they are trying to sell lease for reduced price of 50k. Hopefully it will get taken on by some decent people who will turn it a little more up market. The demand is coming now as more and more professionals move into the area and change colliers wood into the next Balham/Clapham. We just need to push out the old clientele.
|
Nic eplace, generally good service, have had several good nights out here recently and never had any problems. However, I only come here to eat - wouldn't really come here for a drink because of the cliquey nature of the place as described by one of the comments below. There are some real nobs - I think they work at Eddison White - who spoil the place with their incessant baying.
|
not happy with only the one rating you can give a place?!! i think the managers friends that sit in a semi circle are called regulars. they are the ones that keep the place alive whilst the people who expect seats wherever they are, are not in attendance. they are really quite a friendly lot who are in any of the bars in colliers wood on any given night, its not as if they are unapproachable. they bought me a drink after knowing me for about 10 mins. one of them owns the estate agent over the road. colliers wood is clicky, isn't that part of its charm?! if you dont like - go to the west end!
anonymous - 23 Aug 2006 14:10 |
Marks out of 10 Food 8.5 beer 9.0 wine 7.0 friendlyness 8.0 Biggest problem with this place is if you just want to drink, all the managers friends surround the bar in a semi circle and will not move an inch, much too clicky for my friends and i, who have tried on several ocasions to get served reasonably!
anonymous - 15 Aug 2006 22:02 |
not really a pub, but nice to get a pint of amstel for when you want a nice cold larger.
good pizza, but is it more of a mid-week place for the atmosphere?
|
Went to Rehab again last night. Leaving the food aside (which was fantastic and great value) I must say that it quite refreshing having the Amstel beer on tap. The bar are is separate from the dining area and is actually very chilled. Plenty of other drinks are availbale from wine to spirits and the most rfreshing aspect is the intamacy of the bar. You can sit at the bar and drink and chat , no shouting neccassary and the service is brilliant. The waitress smiles, and brings you beer quickly, everyone is polite. Am loving this place more and more - a quite secret drinking hole me thinks it is fast becoming!
|
Er, why is Rehab on this list?
Let's put the restaurant to on-side, which would raise the score, but if you want to rate it just as a bar, it ain't all that. One beer on tap, a pokey little bar space with no real room to sit. It only serves as a place to drink before eating.
It is a great little restaurant and I would definitely recommend it, although this is a beer website. I'm afraid Rehab should not be on this list, but it is, so the bar and beer should be judged on its merits.
If you want a decent beer in the evening, don't go here. If you want a really nice meal, plus a beer before hand, go here.

The last few years that this cracking local has been open during the summer it's has been murder with the heat. I am glad to say that it now has full air conditioning and some of the roof lights in that amazing glass roof are able to open. 500% better! had the best bowl of pasta ever in there the other day. superb.
anonymous - 2 Jun 2006 16:07 |
I love this place, myself, my friends... Oh just about anyone I know go here loads!
Great food, great drink and best of all... Cheap! Oh, dont forget to order the chocolate and marscapone mousse!
|
Thank the Lord for rehab. Especially in Jan when no one has any money, they are doing there any main course for 5 (they have a tendancy to do this just at the right time!) I also noticed that they have recently got in draught Amstel. Hurrah!
|
Not rweally a pub, more a bar restaurant. The food here is fantastic and great value for money- the wines are affordable and the staff are so welcoming, everyone from the waitress to the bar staff. A great chilled place and the place gets better and better with every visit
|
Great place, really good affordable food, pleasant service and good ambience, an all round winner!
|
Yey! Rehab back again! What was that Gazpacho thing all about? Rehab back with their great pizzas.
debbie - 9 Jul 2004 12:40 |
Dave-you're right about one thing mate, the pizzas are fantastic. The pasta dishes are great as well and all very reasonable. However, you must have had your beer goggles on when you were in there as I have never seen any fit women in there!
Chris O'Duffy - 22 Jun 2004 12:40 |
Octopus pizza? Has to be the best pizza joint in town. Cool bar and fit women. What more do you want?!
Dave Mills - 2 Jun 2004 13:11 |
Popped in last night-was very impressed. Great food, great value-will go again for sure.
Kate Taylor - 25 Feb 2004 10:24 |
The word must be catching on about the return of Rehab as I over heard a couple talking about the pizzas on the tube this morning.Keep up the great work and the offers please.
T.Browne - 23 Feb 2004 13:10 |
Went there at the weekend...best meal I've had for ages. Good service and exceptional value.
Nush - 23 Feb 2004 11:27 |
Sometimes, as Joni Mitchell said, you don't know what you got til it's gone - and now it's back. Rehab's pizzas (and yummy salads) are better than ever. Try the Relapse (with gorgonzola, parma ham & artichokes). At just 5 pounds a pizza, it's cheaper than staying at home. The Ravenswood Zinfandel is classy, bold, and incredibly reasonably priced. Go on, try it, and you'll soon fill up your buy nine, get one free card...
Rupert Leyland - 21 Feb 2004 07:59 |
Hooray-the pizzas,pastas and salads r back!!This place rocks!Well done Dan!
Betty Ford - 18 Feb 2004 13:12 |
Don't be confused folks-it is now called Rehab again and the magnificant pizzas are back!! Please go-truss-u will love!
? - 12 Feb 2004 13:20 |
My house mate and I visited last night and it is the best tapas i have ever had! The staff are really friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. Will definately go again
Elouise - 5 Dec 2003 13:19 |
Definitely preferred Bar Rehab with it's wonderfully cheap pizza/salad menu. There's something lacking in the new Gazpacho - the tapas isn't that great and the new refurb is very cheap - however, you can't fault the staff who are always friendly. There isn't much competition in Colliers Wood but when new bars/restaurants do open up in the area, I think GJ's is going to have to improve on it's menu to keep ahead of the competition.
CMM - 17 Nov 2003 11:52 |
If Colliers Wood is as up-and-coming as people say, then you can bet the place will see soon more bars and eateries opening up on the high street and near Abby Mills. Gazpacho is the standard by which the others will be judged. Innovative food, great staff and a top chef (if you don't like Tapas, you only have to ask for the extras menu). Tops.
John Booth - 13 Oct 2003 17:23 |
Quite nice, food ok-bit clicky tho.
Debbie - 10 Oct 2003 10:51 |
If Mad mike thinks that burgers and bangers and mash are posh food then no wonder he thinks the best place for food is the kebab shop opposite sainsburys. half price food on 2 items off the menu every tue, wed, thurs and sat has to be a bargain. 10 Tapas for 18.50 is also amazing value, and it tastes better than it does in Spain! Well done guys!
Boris - 8 Oct 2003 13:52 |
posh food but overall nothing special at all. Ok for a quiet drink, but 4 food go 2 the kebaby opposite sainsbury's
Mad Mike - 1 Oct 2003 19:58 |
I must say that i eat all over london and the uk, and its nice to find a place where its homemade food through and through, without costing you the earth! its the kind of place were you stay all night have the excelent tapas at the bar and then move on to the a la carte menu, ranging from homemade burgers to confit duck, and their cocktails are to die for, i highly recomend the morcilla and quails egg tapa mmmmmm.
linda and dave - 30 Sep 2003 14:59 |
Are there still Yuppies still alive? Angie seems to think so. What does it lack....Angie's rapier wit possibly? This place is friendly, relaxing and serves excellent food and drink, ideal for all us Yuppie scaffolders and builders. Dont like it... then go and eat fish fingers in the Riverside.
Mick The Munch - 29 Sep 2003 16:55 |
Well, what can be said to people who are actually baying for pizza? If you prefer the old menu it can only mean that you have not tried the new one, or has too much junk food i.e. pizza!! Completely destroyed your palate? Marvellous as rehab was in its original incarnation it did serve the type of food that is sadly now available almost everywhere you may wish to dine. So if confit potatoes are just a little too wild for you, go to pizza hut! And I’ll enjoy a meal prepared by an actual chef!! With fresh ingredients (not from a weekly delivery of frozen produce) Kids are also very welcome, great stuff keep it up guys.
Tom - 27 Sep 2003 15:47 |
best food in sw19 and possibly sw london keep up the great food chefs, front of house needs improving though.
carlos - 26 Sep 2003 10:43 |
Not a bad place, good for the area but it does lack a little something!! nice for a quick drink after work but thats it. some of the regulars are a bit " upthemselfs" but its an up and coming area " yuppies" so im told?!
angie - 26 Sep 2003 00:46 |
I've been going to Rehab/Gazpacho since in opened. It's pleasant and has a family atomsphere. As a woman, it's intimadating to go into a pub and sit a the bar and have a drink, but In Gazpacho, i can have a drink after work and feel comfortable. Keep up the good work Dan.
The Woman at the Bar - 25 Sep 2003 22:24 |
Hmmmm-sorry but I prefered it as Rehab!! Seems to be full of 20 somethings reliving their 18-30's holiday!!
Claire - 23 Sep 2003 18:17 |
this is not a bad place but i just wish they would do something about thier custom. i was in the other night with some good friends of mine and i was so embarresed that i had choosen this place to bring them as there were two rather large men stood at the bar, drinking like it was going out of fashion, they got very loud and the words coming out of them was far from polite. i guess its ok place to go if you don't mind the larger louts but not a place to take respectable friends when you want a nice relaxing meal and conversation.
ruth - 23 Sep 2003 14:00 |
Always a blinder, the new menu is great and getting better all the time, Dan and co are always welcoming and a good laugh... Certainly my local!
Alex - 18 Sep 2003 14:19 |
Well what can I say! Gazpacho is responsible for a lot of things in my life, mostly my dwindling bank account! Dan has created (with some help) a revolutionary establishment, and is the first bar/restaurant in 'The Wood' to sell diet Budvar! If your in the Wood its a must, but be careful, this place addictive as most of the 'usual suspects' and their Doris's will tell you!
Ben - 9 Sep 2003 09:38 |
Great place, great food, great staff,Cool roof, warm beer......Ave it!!! As for riverside,it would be better off IN the river. Charmed I'm sure.
Bob - 5 Sep 2003 13:22 |
Fab bar. Kept us in beer and great company for the year and a half we lived round the corner. And we'd still rather pop down and visit than most of the bars in Clapham. Even better they now do cocktails!!!
Claire - 5 Sep 2003 10:33 |
Don't know it that well, even though I work next door. However it does have great food, great bar, cool roof, chilled atmosphere, and grolsch on tap....Sometimes. I will second the Basil and Manuel situation,it's uncanny.Well Done.
Bob - 4 Sep 2003 12:04 |
A place I often pop into for 'one' drink after work, which turns into 'one' evening, but I always have a fab time - whatever day of the week. A great selection of wine, beer, food and people :-)
Julia - 3 Sep 2003 14:35 |
with an outstanding menu(one that would really suit the kind of person who considers spain a second home!) and staff its a very nice place to be, provided: the grolsch tap is working, the fridges are working, the roof is not leaking (or falling down), the new mixer taps are working, its not too hot, its not too cold, no-one is running naked through the bar, there is not a flood, it is not a building site, the drains are not blocked, girls are not fighting on the toilet floor, people are not throwing ash trays at each other and the kitchen staff are not trying to stab one another. see you in the victory then!
daniel white - 1 Sep 2003 16:10 |
Great spanish tapas cooked by a great span. Fantastic place with a great atmosphere.
Daniel - 30 Aug 2003 09:52 |
I was so impressed, I bought the company. Followed swiftly on by a boardroom reshuffle, and reinstating the original owner as CEO. After all, nobody does it better - and it really does make me feel sad for the rest. Keep up the good work Dan and co...
Roops - 29 Aug 2003 23:11 |
Just like 'Cheers' but with a Spanglish twist. It's hard not to feel at home here. Have lost many an evening in this scrummy little place. Wunderbar.....!!
Jo - 29 Aug 2003 17:12 |
'THE' place to be seen in the Wood!!! Fab bar, fab staff, fab food!!!
Kxxx - 29 Aug 2003 16:13 |
Excellent food, bar snacks in the form of spicy tapas and an extensive menu with a Mediterranean feel. Lively atmosphere and friendly staff and Basil Fawlty behind the bar!!
Mick - 29 Aug 2003 15:46 |
What a great bar! The thing that makes it stand out is definately the great service. What a fab bunch, always smilimg, always joking and always providing intelligent conversation!
Buns - 29 Aug 2003 15:45 |
Great bar/restaurant with a glass roof and terrace outside. Ate here last friday and the food was superb. This place used to be called Rehab but has recently been refurbished and completely changed its menu. In addition to the new standard menu, they now offer a selection of tapas.
