Nice enough place inside with huge granite walls.
However we were the only ones in here and I felt very bored indeed so didn't mind leaving at all!

Called in last October, but only for an ale, the quality was so good we just had to go back last Saturday, and yes the standard is so high, that I suggested they apply for their Cask Marque

Another holiday haunt. Not fair to judge this place as a pub: it's a seriously good seafood restaurant with decent beer on tap. But there's a lot worse pubs in Penzance than this one and we'll definitely eat here again ;-)

Visited this place primarily for a meal as they served a very nice Brill, a particular favourite fish. It was nice but expensive. The beer was good - nice to find a beer other than Doom Bar - Sharp's Own I think it was. Staff seemed pleasant enough when we visited on two occasions bit it is certainly more like an eating house than a pub.

had a last couple in here before back to hotel, nice back street pub with good choice of beer and pleasant staff, seems very food oriented but drinkers welcome.

had food here ages ago but the nightmare haunts me, crab barley risotto with out any crab in it, and mash potato that had so much pepper in it my partner could not eat it. service was ok and the girls were nice left them a tenner tip for the service not a penny for the food.

I had a very bad experience at The Navy in Penzance. Whilst enjoying a pint with my friends, I picked up the candle, only to be told by the chef that, in a very aggressive way, that I should not touch it as it cost more that the profit he makes on a barrel of beer. He then muttered a four letter expletive under his breath.
Not a nice experience - would not recommend the place.

Had a nice meal of local fish in here.
The Doom Bar was good, but what is on the far left pump? Throughout our time there, the barman spent all his idle time trying to pull something through there. When we left, the pubp still wasn't dispensing.

Situated just off the promenade, the Navy is a charismatic pub that is fairly typical of the town but with a slightly more underplayed maritime theme. The Navy does tend to lean more towards the gastro side of things with a fairly up market menu (and pricelist) and just the 2 ales; Betty Stoggs and Doom Bar (2 other pumps unused). The interior is light and airy with the usual bare floors, beamed ceilings, exposed granite walls, rigging, maritime bric a brac and some interesting old pictures including one of an old landlady of yesteryear. They also make good use of redundant fireplace for additional shelving. The atmosphere is quite civilized although it was mainly candlelit diners as opposed to tanked up trawler brawlers. Whilst food smelt good and we were looking for something to eat, the prices were a bit offputting for our budget. Worth popping in for a visit lacks any real atmosphere during meal times.
