The windows and doors are covered in posters declaring 'No Football Supporters. Some might welcome this but I thought it was a little off putting. But once inside you will find a lively CAMRA approved bar with plenty of ale and bottled beers. Worth a visit or three!

Not a bad place, maybe a bit rough and ready kind of look but friendly staff (they were to us anyway). Had a few ciders on tap all of which looked and tasted ok. Also had fruili on tap and a couple of European lagers. For smokers there is a area in the rear garden.

approx six ales and 4real ciders on offer at this pie shoppe opp the train station,as previously reported beer was murky but still tasted good(oakham tera)only main prob i had was the place stunk of puke and no matter how much the guy from the bar wandered around spraying red strawberry smelling liquid on the floor did the smell go away,7/10 mainly for the ale range!

A pub where they think that real ale should be murky. A pub where they refuse to change iffy beer. A pub where calling the landlord down is like issuing some kind of threat. A pub where they refuse to refund you when you don't want the substandard products they try to fob off on you. Out of all the pubs so far this is the WORSE. One place where the customer is never right even when they so obviously are.

10 ales and some belgium beer thrown in.Wasnt expecting much when i popped in here as most station pubs are grotty but not this one!
|
Fabulous pub just next to the station, a real find for the thirsty traveller with 10 real ales on tap and only 1.75 a pint on a Tuesday night!
|
A bit confusing as there are still 2 entries for this pub, old name Lloyds and new name Crown. 10 beers on the bar a bit cold but in good condition and a great choice of breweries. We had Abbeydale Demon Drink, Idle Black Abbot, Six Bells I Scream, Six Bells X ception, Stonehouse KPA and Williams Scarecrow. Friendly pub decorated up for halloween.

The owners are clearly making an effort here, with 10 real ales on (including the rather good Edwin Taylor Extra Stout). Perhaps I visited on a bad day, but a couple of customers left something to be desired. Anyway, its close to the railway station and well worth a visit. (NB - Review relates to visit in November 2008 before pub was added to BITE.)
