Lovely setting right on a quiet stretch of the canal with plenty of outside seats.
I enjoyed two good pints of Nobby''s Northampton Red and also had Sharps Atlantic and an Admiral''s Ale.
Interesting interior with some modernisation inside of the eating area.
Decent pub food, though perhaps a bit pricey for what was on offer.
Definitely worth another visit.

Popped in during a weekend on the canal; not that busy on a Friday, but it's early in the season. Welcoming staff and decent Timothy Taylor's Landlord. Kids tried the Northampton skittles and enjoyed a dessert. Better than the current rating (5.5) - I reckon 7/10.

Not really in Daventry at all, but just outside canal capital Braunston, this proved to be an enjoyable enough pit stop on a canal walk from Napton to Long Buckby. A roast (pork) and fish and chips were excellent and pints of Hooky went down well but it's probably a bit too gastro. Good to see Northamptonshire skittles in place though.

Went in on Friday and Saturday evenings very recently. Have given the Nelson a score of 8 as we did not eat - it deserves this. The beer, I had Doombar was superb as were the other two draft beers on offer. I think It is now a freehouse and they are trying hard to make a go of a pub that has had a recent history of opening in the summer closing in the winter then new tenents for the summer and so on. Moorings close by and a big car park what more could you want.
